Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, how about creating a pink banner or something for everyone to wear. I would love to wear something pink. I'm sure everyone knows someone who has had breast cancer or just any type of cancer that has affected them or their friends or families. Maybe the sales of these pink items could go to the cancer society or cancer research center. Just an idea. Thanks.

I pushed for this last year as well. Yet, they ignored it. And I brought it up earlier this year as well, and they ignore it again. Yet they are happy to run a charity for soldiers playing video games. Coming from a family with a background in cancer, it saddens me to say that STS doesn't show that they care about something that affects every single person in the world.

I agree, they should do it. Even if they just recolored some vanity, at least it would be something.

You could say the same thing about any number of other charities they could support. (Or why just breast cancer? Why not other types of cancer?) Most small businesses have one charity that they really get behind. As you pointed out, STG already has theirs. It's a little unfair to suggest that they don't care about breast cancer. If they decide to support it in the form of a vanity or what have you, great. But if they don't, I can't get too mad at them. And it's not like breast cancer organizations are free from controversy: http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/06/10/18869742-susan-komen-ceos-salary-draws-fire-as-donations-drop-races-are-canceled.

I should add that my mom had breast cancer, and she was diagnosed right after my dad lost his job. So it's a deeply personal issue for me.

Even though October is Breast Cancer Awareness, it's still about raising awareness for cancer in general. As posted above, STS has done a similar thing in PL a few years ago with the pink antennae. Doing this kind of thing with a banner in AL would be great, and having a part of the proceeds go to cancer charity.

Some companies may have one charity to sponser, but that charity is usually a partnership that goes year-round. From what I understood, 8-bit was only active last spring. Besides, it doesn't hurt anyone to raise money for any number of charities. Running a BCA event would actually do more good than bad. A lot of people would support this charity event- a lot more than the 8-bit- as cancer affects all of us.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom though, my aunt has just recovered from breast cancer last year and she's doing great! :)

Good points. I didn't realize that they made a pink vanity before.

My mom has been cancer free for a long time now. It was terrible to go through. Glad to hear that your aunt has recovered.

Completely agree. Seems like a great idea, although I doubt they will do it.

+1. This is certainly more desirable than recolored vanities.
