How does one make words into a hyperlink?

I couldn't seem to find the thread that explains how. What I mean is, people have their Guides with a hyperlink in blue in their signature. How does one do that? I only know of how to copy and paste the actual website link. Yes, I realize this is a noob question, don't flame me, please :(.

or you can just type a word, highlight it, then click the icon with the globe and paperclip on it. a window pops up and thats where you put the link you want the word to direct to. like this (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?26814-How-does-one-make-words-into-a-hyperlink)

Or you could always just click quote on what they put and see the default text without the edits before you post it ;).
