Pet suggestion

For pets I was thinking, since characters were already animals, that glowing faeries that fly in circles around our characters would be nice. These pet faeries could possibly also add stat bonuses while equipped or have special skills of their own. What do you guys think?

That is a nice idea. To expand, these fairies should:
1. Have a moderately high price and not drop, to make them more of an achievement instead of simply another piece of gear.
2. We should be able to pick the color of the fairy from a large pallete.

Stats they could add would be:

10, 20 and 30 str/dex/int.

2%, 3%, 5% Luck (chance of rare drops)

2%, 5%, 10% exp

Add a fairy that can auto ress you once per hour.

Add a fairy that can heal you when your health gets below 20%, once per 20minutes.

Maybe not spend gold to revive it, but if you die your fairy could be inactive for, say, 10 minutes.

I would definitely not want some stupid little tinkerbell flying around me while doing battle with some bad *** monsters. That would completely ruin pets for me. I'd rather have a ninja panda or a laser wielding alien. Something that is actually creative.

I wasn't picturing it as a fairy shape, but rather a small, glowing sphere.

Having large pets like pandas would take up too much precious screen space IMO.

Fairies could add mana powers
Panda health powers
Aliens damage powers

They should be really tiny but if you zoom in they should show in full detail. Also requiring care, if you dont login for a set period they run away.

That is even less creative. I want to see pets like the little monk in WoW. Not just your standard fairy, cat, dog, monkey, etc.

And for the care thing, I'd rather this not turn into Tamagotchi. Pets should just fight and maybe add perks.

How about we just let the devs handle the whole pet thing for now. Everyone is just over complicating it and trying to make it into some sort of animal simulator.

I dont think anyone means we should have to play with them or buy them toys or anything. If they are merely there to make you stronger that's lame. As a pet some sort of involvement(even if just revive) should be needed

But it's such a waste of time. The fact that it's already easy enough to die in this game would mean that your pet would die at an even faster rate. I just won't have the time to revive my pet constently.

If I wanted to take care of something, I'd either get a dog or not wear a condom the next time I have sex.

Mannn if only an iPod could pull of one big world,then we'd be talkin about mounts here :( But honestly !! Why isn't anyone thinking about mercs/mercenarys like actual characters you can hire an lvl buy Or farm armor for them basicly like a non pet companion just have a merc vendor in town that we can choose the kinda merc we would like,magic,archer,warrior and honestly they should look different than us like the enchantress should be a guy or something I dunno just a idea that would be smart. I also think fairys are a good idea but I'd like to see sumthin scary and intimidating or sumthin I dunno I would use a fairy but I like the scary lookin pets so I hope there's gunna be some good lookin pets :)

Banned, this is just a suggestion, not necessarily thinking tinker bell faeries but more along the edges of orbs pets. Considering the fact that were constantly being thrown into the fray with skeletons, ogres, and magic crocodiles this idea doesn't seem too farfetched. I'm thinking of a pet that would be simple, yet visually stimulating, swell as being functional. As to letting the devs handle things, I do see that they read the forums quite often and are extremely open to suggestion.

Haha your right on that I am a huge fan and cannot wait. But I used to be a straight diablo gamer and one thing I remember mercs/mercenaries were extremely cool and benifital, I mean pets are cool and I'd definately like one but real life kinda characters you can hire and lvl select skills for would be plain awesome and benifital on the fact it would help alot of people who would rather do solo farming or stuff like that. PL is a great game and I'm only hoping to give some input on the great patches to come:)

i know other games have implimented faeries but in my opinion a floating pet will cause less clutter on the ground, we all dont want to be screaming, "get off my pet!"

i think it would be cool to have a little jackal as a pet seing as oasis is out soon, and if your low on health or dead it should protect you :P

I think the floating orb is kinda lame... i would like a pet wolf or a mini dragon type thing would be awesome. just my opinion.

As for dieing... I think it should lose hp as you get damaged, but it should have more hp than you. As someone pointed out, we die way too often and easy, so lets say when you die, the animal disappears. When you are revived its at like 75% (or w/e) from his total hp, plus whatever damage it took from before. Also if you just sit in town, or anywhere... it should regenerate its hp (Duh!)

I also think there should be two types of pets. Defensive and offensive. Ones will provide hp/def/armor/etc buffs and the others crit/hit/dmg
Also amongst those there should be a color differentiation. It will be helpful in PvP to know what kind of a pet your opponent is using. Not to mention, people have diff tastes in color choices, so if you want to hang out in the town and look cool, you put the appropriate pet to match your armor for example!

Also this brings up an opportunity for some kind of a dev contest where the winner gets a unique colored orb pet!

Well I guess I am biased since I am used to playing games on a bigger screen (computer for example), so playing an mmo on a screen like this is a bit... new to me.

I think a glowing orb/will'o'wisp stat boosting familiar is a good idea, I also think attack pets would be nice but would have to be smaller to keep clutter to a minimum, ideally I'd like the UI streamlined a bit to reduce clutter but that's another matter.

Alternatively I like the idea of a pet class, at least for attack pets anyway, I don't think everybody should be able to have attack pets, bit OTT.
