Duel System, How Does It Work?

Here my thought, I don't know how duel system is supposed to be. But hey, how can't you see your opponent's level? It's not my first time someone someone said to me he's lv 13, challenged me and kill in 1 shot. I know that's not lv 13 and when you party him to know what level he is, he just ignores you, pretends to not know any english.

I just ask anyone here, does duel system supposed to be that way? At least give level in countdown screen so we can leave if it's not arround our level. Is this a duel or hide and seek?

edit: some of them even use blight and kill in 1 shot.
