The idea of crafting is to get a for-sure awesome set that surpasses your original in almost every aspect. sets like fortified are not quite working out because they have a weak spot (like m/s).
to make crafting a even more unique but essential part of the game, along side material collecting, making crafted items bound to you would promote working for it.
idk, a radical idea for sure, but as it is you are not required to craft in the least, you can just buy the item. You could even add another rarity group for these super crafted items, as some people are suggesting.
