View Full Version : Medium Cake Thoughts...

Hello,

First off I would like to say that STG cannot be blamed for not foreseeing medium cakes. Why? The entire reason people were profiting was that medium cakes were being listed on AH for underneath the amount they could net in. If people had realized this, the price would've gone higher. Additionally, STG cannot foresee the price of medium cakes either. How are they supposed to predict the future of the cake's pricing? For all they know, they could've predicted that the cake price would be around 18-20k and they would not have been far off.

The entire reason why the cakes made gold was a case of players not realizing the true worth of the cakes. In such an abundant quantity, practically most cakes were misrepresenting their worth.

When in regards to the economy, nothing in the game should be allowed to inject THAT much gold into the economy besides platinum. It's entirely unhealthy, so even if the price of the cakes were 25K...the gold inflation would still occur because gold would be generated out of no gold. Therefore, it is an issue that should've been dealt with. The only reason it got out of hand was the poorly priced cakes.

Lastly, the player harassment on this needs to stop or STG should do something about it...the amount of harassment I get in game due to this is unreal, but the strange thing is that I was not even the one to create a thread. That's not to say that the players who have should be harassed...they shouldn't either. It ruins players game play and if it's allowed to continue, with players circumventing another player's ignore list...what is the point of posting on forums, what is the point of playing the game? To be harassed? STG even made a thread stating that the nerf came from internal data via their gold generator records...so there should be no reason to put blame on anyone who are just voicing their opinions on the matter.

The fingers pointing out on you is actually quite unrealistic. Players already wouldve figured it out before it was posted on the forums, afterall it was in fact going on and was spread around in game. What exploit has ever remained? From my knowledge - None.

Sts is to blame here not Zeus..three years and they don't know how their game works? In any case what's with the harassment? Get on with ur lives or quit AL cause there is no excuse for this abuse. GG to STS on making this the ugliest birthday party ever.

Even then bud, I don't see how they could've seen that medium cakes would be taken advantage of. The entire reason why they were profitable was the low price of the cakes. Not even developers can predict the market. :/

Hey all. I'm going to close up this thread, but before I do let me emphasize once again that our decision was made on pure, raw data on our end. No single player, nor any group of players is to blame for the fix OR us finding out about the exploit. It was obvious in the numbers alone.

What people need to understand is that while it seemed GREAT to be able to make that much gold that fast, it really wouldn't have ended in anyone being truly rich. With that much gold injected into the economy, all of the work we have done over the last few months to help balance the game's economy would have been reversed. All of the items you want would go up in price, since there would be more gold in people's inventory to pay for it. The long term effects of a "get rich quick" exploit like that would have been far reaching and long lasting. Not good for anyone.

It is truly disappointing to me that an event that was about sharing, celebrating, and generosity (sharing your cakes in towns and with friends) devolved into selfishness and hostility. I know that our community is better than this, so let's rally, get back into game, and enjoy this event the way that it was meant to be enjoyed.

Much love, Rem
