View Full Version : Friday Music - Guitar Magic - Satriani's "Wind in the Trees"

It's a beautiful day here in Texas. The sun was glorious for my 20 minute drive in to work through the hills and trees of Northwest Austin. I put my iPhone on shuffle and when I was just turning on the highway, Joe Satriani's "Wind in the Trees" started to play.

When I was preparing for my drive out from California to Texas for our move here, I downloaded a ton of music to listen through. This included a bunch of Joe Satriani's latest stuff, as I'm a big fan (but hadn't stayed up with him or listened to his more recent albums). Apparently, I had completely missed this gem as it is a stellar track.

Give a listen on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TO4ejwSzus. When I was looking through YouTube for the track, I also came across the podcast that Joe did building up to the release of Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Swans-Wormhole-Wizards-Satriani/dp/B003ZJJFKE) that intros the track. Some great studio footage there as well - if you're interested, give it a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZPtxdm5SHA

Ok, so enough about what got me rolling this morning musically, what about you?

What have you listened to recently that had you movin', groovin', chillin' or illin'?

Leave a link, thanks! Have an awesome Friday!

Hmmm....if I really want to get a good jump start on whatever I'm doing I would have to listen to Michael Jackson, Akon, Ne-Yo, Nelly, or random songs in my fave playlist. Haven't listened to anything today but if I did it would be from one of those people.

All I can say is you're not listening the right stuffs :)

I've always liked the fast upbeat type of music, even to relax to :p

So I find the artists like Afrojack, ants (love his song edIT), the mainstream like Give Me Everything - Ne-Yo, Pitbull.

Btw Sam, since you're into country, and I'm a semi avid American Idol follower, what do you think of this years winner as a country singer? (if you follow too :p) Was surprised to see him win.

Yeah, it was an interesting season of Idol, with the last two being on the Country side of things. Of course Scotty was going to win, given the teen girl audience of Idol. I thought all the top 4 were great and will be checking out their stuff if/when it comes out.

Hahaha. The teen girl audience. Actually brings up another controversy to why one member got kicked out early IMO :)

Anyway, thanks for the added music to listen to Sam!

As a singer myself, I always praise vocal talent and the ability to impress.

I've been listening to old Michael Bublé or otherwise some dubstep.

Everyone knows this one: Haven't Met You Yet. But it always brightens my day with a girl in mind. :D

Nice, thanks for the link! I'm not that big of a rap fan, but that was a smooth listen, over the top of Phil Collins' awesome In the Air Tonight.

Holy Stereo, Batman! Listening to that track on headphones (at work ya know, can't blast the studio) and that track has some great stereo panning. I love how the snare fades out to both sides. Nice vocal too :)

Typical Californian expecting that there is no downloadable music here in Texas. Shame on you! :D

I love listing to classical music, being a first chair bass in my towns symphony, I am deeply drawn to deep sounds, like the bass and cello, and enjoy listening to soloists.
