Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but it seems the most fitting, so hey! I just made a new enchantress, and I guess I want her to be PvE and then I'll respec later for PvP.

That said, specifically, how should I distribute my points (skills and attributes) to be most effective? My other character is (I think) a very effective DPS bird, and I had found a nice guide on here that told me to dump 100% into dex and from there, which skills to level up and which to ignore.

I can find no such information for an enchantress. At least not any that isn't from last year.

So, if anyone has a minute, would you mind helping me out?

I'm assuming I just put everything into int and like 72 dex, but I'm not 100% on that. And the skills are a point of confusion as well.

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome :)

And yes, you've come to the right place. Although you can actually find all the info in the Echantress section, I'll highlight some of them...

As an enchantress there are different 'builds'. You can either choose to put all your points in INT, INT/STR; DEX/INT

Very briefly this means:
INT: Does highest spell dmg, but can be a bit hard to keep alive at times. So it requires more skill from the player, but in turn deals the most dmg and has best healing capacity.
STR/INT: If enough points in STR, you can wear STR gear. Which gives you more protection, but your spell dmg will suffer
DEX/INT: Best for single target dmg, but again your raw spell dmg suffers (it's debatable, but I don't want to write a book). This build is the hardest to keep alive though (again debatable).

My preference goes to full INT, no dex. The build you're refering to is 67Dex (not 72), rest INT. This allows you to equip lv 20 dex rings (require 67 points in Dex).

To give you an idea of how to distribute the skill points, I copied my distribution (lv56) below:

To find out what these different skills do, look either in your skill book or search in the Enchantress section.

My suggestion would be, check out the enchantress section on this forum. All your questions are explained there in much greater detail.

Either way, I hope this gets you started :)

That dex enchantress build your looking at is a very specialized, and player preference based build. Since you want to PVE for now, I recommend exactly what JaytB did, full Int enchantress. Int mages are basic, but powerful.

The Five Enchantress Builds
These are five different builds that are most commonly used by Enchantress's.

Paladin -

Paladin's are basically Bears with Enchantress Spells
Paladins use all Bear equipment
Paladins have very high armor, dodge, Healthpool, and Healthpoint Regeneration
Paladins have very high dungeon survivability
In order to be a Paladin, you must have at least enough strength to put on Bear gear. The rest should be put into Int. Some Paladins basically convert themselves to bears and go full Strength, which I highly do not recommend!

Hybrid -

Hybrids are Enchantress's that can equip all Enchantress gears but have stat points put into other skills for the benefits.
Hybrids generally sacrifice Int and its benefits in return for Str and its benefits.
Hybrids have less damage then pure mages but have higher survivability with the additional armor.
Hybrids are good because Pure Int mages are known to be extremely hard to play by the fact that they can get one hit killed. 1V1 a Pure Int mage is likely to win though.

Pure Int Mage -

Pure Int Mages have the highest damage in the game. thousands of damage dealt per second with group damage spells.
Pure Int Mages are incredibly weak when it comes to survivability. They rely on bears to take aggression for them.
Pure Int Mages tend to rely on their buffs/debuffs to survive as well.

I consider Pure Int Mages to be "Expert Mode" Builds. They are incredibly hard to play. Once you master them though, they are the deadliest Builds in the game.

Dual Build -

Dual Build allows you to wear two top level gears without reallocating your characters stats.
Dual Build is the most balanced setup in the game.
Dual Build is mainly a PvE build.
Dual Builds sacrifice additional stat bonus's in both fields in return for the ability to wear two gears
Dual Builds use several low level items in order to equip the top level items.

Dual builds are the ideal class to have in a PvE party. This is because you can play two roles in the party. Its like having two characters in the party playing as one, except you can only do one at a time. The Jack of all trades. Paladins are suited for both PvP and PvE with this build/

Dex Enchantress -

Dex Enchantresses are really weak unbuffed, but incredibly strong when they have their buffs up.
Dex Enchantresses wear Bird Armor.
Dex Enchantresses usually support fire and take little aggro.
Dex Enchantresses specialize in 1v1 damage, like birds do.
Dex Enchantresses have weak to medium spell damage, depending on your stat distribution.
Basically, they are a lot like birds, just with Mage Spells.

Dex Enchantresses are basically birds, I will leave it at that. Strong 1v1 damage and weak multi damage.
