View Full Version : Droid X keyboard issues

Since the recent 2.3.3 update for Android, I have experienced several problems when using my touch keyboard for the Droid X. Initially, I disabled the vibrate function and all appeared to be fine until today. Now, my screen freezes upon using any punctuation. I have already spoken with Verizon and Motorola. I uninstalled all of my apps and tested each one to see if the issue persisted. The only issue is when I have PL loaded. If I uninstall PL, my problem is fixed.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, was it fixed and how? If not, are the devs aware of this issue?

Thank you in advance for any assistance and time to explain.

EDIT:: This also hinders me from logging in as I have to use a period in my email address. Guess no play for Crim. :(

Have you tried other keyboards than the one you're using now?

All I have is the touch screen

All I have is the touch screen

I mean different touch screen keyboards, like slideit or swype.

Sorry! Yeah, I changed the multitouch features and if I press (.) it freezes. On phone with Verizon again so if I get an answer, or it is solved, I will post for future reference.

Ok. According to someone who seemed to know much more (funny how that works), I was told that after a major update, sometimes the phone needs to have a hard reset. In this case, the Gingerbread update (2.3.3) changed a lot of things and the technician said if the phone has problems after an update, to reset it and all should be fine. I have tested it out and seems to be working again.

Thanks Otukura for at least responding.

Your problem sir is that droid x does NOT have a keyboard. Only a touchpad. Roll Tide man glad you got it fixed.

How did you reset? I am having the same issues. What kind of reset?

Ok. Resetting doesnt help. I had the same issue again yesterday. I seem to last two or three weeks and all of a sudden when i hit the "period" or "question" mark button, freeze goes the screen. Same answer from verizon, has to be an app problem, not with phone. Had to do another hard reset. This is frustrating.

what about all the info and stuff that was on the phone? Did you lose it all? But there is no app! I already did that and nothing worked. This is just a bunch of crap.
It's the stupid Ginger-whatever. But I really need that texting to work...its a major deal in my life. I wonder if we got new phones if anything would change. This is
the second Droid I have gone through in less than a year. This is starting to really be a pain in the butt.

i don't have Pocket Legend on my phone, but i was none the less having the same issues as you guys. i cleared the cache in my phone for the keyboard. to do so, go settings -> applications --> manage applications --> all tab at the top of the screen --> scroll down to Multi-touch keyboard --> "clear data" this fixed the problem for me. i hope it works for you!!

I had the same problem! I tried every single thing that was suggested on this thread until finally one of my friends gave me the solution! All you have to do is download "better keyboard pro" and use that as your default keyboard :-) you even get back the smiley face button that went away with the software update. I'm using the keyboard now to respond to this. It totally works. It costs a little money for the app but it's a small price to pay compared to how much you could pay to fix your phone or get a new one :-)

Clearing the keyboard cache once in a while helps, it is silly that it has to be done, but it helps.

That didn't help me when I tried it because it didn't have any cache that needed to be cleared. I just bought a new keyboard app from the market and it fixed it right up
