If I come across a .apk file on the device browser, it let's me download it. How can I actually install it though? Yes I'm rooted.

Ok once you download, on the home screen pull down the status bar and click on the apk file complete and just install. If you dont have that in your status bar, then you can use a file manager or just an apk. manager, there's many out there in the market.

I reccomend Astro file manager, always has wlrked for me without any hiccups. edit: tell me this isn't the cracked O&C apk, please.

Nah lol was looking around for some v-cast ... so far nothing good.
Found a copy on xda developers, but tried to click it on status bar and nothing happened. So, meh.
Edit: world of midgard will throw O & C away lol... overhyped.

Update: turns out I can't cheat the system. Managed to install it, but the store is directly connected to your Verizon account, so nada.
