Staff or Gun?

i see now staff can hit up to 4 enemies and gun have 200% bonus, so what do yo think the best weap for mage now?

I'm a PvE smurf, so...staff imo is best weapon because of that multi-target feature.

I like staff im pure pvp. That arcane proc is underestimated and undervalued. You didn't even mention it in your decision.
Buff Armor +stats for you,
debuff armor -stats to opponent. Noto mention the proc that works 100% of the time dose alot more damage than normal strike and has a massive aoe. Some thoughts

Gun = boss / PvP

after the expansion, staffs and dagger will be more useful than long range weapons

If the spells you have mapped require you to rely on basic attacks, then use a gun. Otherwise use a staff, once the new versions become available.

As a rule of thumb:

If you have only one of: fireball, frost bolt, lightning strike mapped, then use a gun. If you have two or more mapped, use a staff.

This is from a PvE standpoint of course, I would not care to comment on PvP.

Gun is better for range and staff is better for multiple hits.
