L56 duel spec guide?

So I need some help on L.56 duel specing (dex/Str) by duel specing I mean when your character can use a Str shield and a dex talon at the same time, if there is a guide for this can someone put a link for me :) that would be really helpful :)

Your right. Because of the state requirements to do this, you must use 51 gear. Personally, doesn't make sense because of loss of stats.

Look at the mini guide I gave menndoza, it's for 55 but 56 isn't much different. Add 5 to either stat.

I do this and its great. There is nothing better than a tank with range. U need a 56 crown(hope u got dex 1) and 51 gear. The best set is dex crown, fury shld, plate, and death talon. Start 145str 139dex. Equip crown, then osiris plate and shld, then horus talon. This should give u 161str, 161dex then stack 51stuff. U can use 53 stuff its a little to deal with stacking.

If u get set I suggested u will hve 25h/s 15m/s, and like 150 armor. No set with range gives these stats

I searched the forums for my post just now:


127 str, 152 dex, 1 int. For a level 55

Osiris - Osiris - Osiris - Rift (162 str, 152 dex now)
Royal - Osiris - Royal - Bellows (169 str, 152 dex now)
Royal - Horus - Royal - Bellows (161 str, 160 dex right now)
Royal - Void/hate - Royal - Bellows (161 str, 163/164 dex right now)

Putting a henchman's/raid talon in there instead of a void/hate will have less base damage, but more skill damage. Worth it, IMO.

It's called hybrid I believe and it's possible :cool:

Dual spec is when you i.e. wear a full dex loadout and via one ot two othr loadouts you switch to a full str loadout.

My experiments, level 56, Using Dex and Str Crowns as boost:
151 base Dex
133 base Str

Equip Customized Crown, then equip 51 Bagman Talon (too stingy for 51 Raid :) ) : 175 Dex, 133 Str
Equip Fortified Crown, Osiris Leather/Plate , Osiris Wing/Shield : 161 Dex, 163 Str
Equip 51 Bodyguard Plate: 161 Dex 167 Str
Equip 53 Royal Helm, 53 Royal Plate, 53 Bellows Shield : 161 Dex, 167 Str

After that it's a 51 Talon and 53 Str Helm, Plate, Shield. But using this setup left me mostly underwhelmed, couldn't find a situation where I needed 150+ armor and a ranged weapon at the same time. Always had the feeling that either the high armor or the range is unnecessary. The high dodge is nice though...

I find that these hybrids were awesome in PvE, but in PvP something about them made them horrible for anything but a one v one. Even in one v ones, the 'typical' builds would tend to triumph.

It doesn't work with all 51 gear, but if you use a Str crown it should be possible.

149 base Dex + 12 from 51 Raid/SK/Henchman Recurve = 161 Dex, enough for Recurve
135 base Str + 14 from Str Crown + 12 From 51 Fury/Royal/Bodyguard Plate = 161, enough for Plate :D

But if you do that, you basically just change a 55 Recurve into a 51 Recurve and a 55 Dex leather into a 51 Str Plate, don't know if that's worth it...

The helmet and armor for raid or sewer king gear doesn't have a big defense difference with str gear. It's the shield that really gives the big boost.

I have used a hybrid build for a long time. In PvE it's really great, hardly die but don't have to melee. However, in PvP you still lose, it just takes longer.

That begs the question. Does a talon do that much more damage then a sword at lvl 55? Skill damage has to be quite a bit larger on the sword than the talon.

Actually, I think the talon has a bit more.

If your wearing fury your not looking to get many kills anyway because most of the time your slashing at air because the bird with bow or talon has already killed everyone. Thats why I prefer hybrid fury with talon so u can still tank and help party kill mobs

If you are using a RR talon level 51 the skill damage is probably higher. if you're using a death talon or something else, I don't think it is. The DPS is higher, and you do get range killing, but good melee players can also clear lots of enemies.
