With zombies spilling out of their tombs, treacherous mercenaries running amok in the castle, yetis stinking up the ice caves, demons, giant skeletons and crabby crocodiles... it’ll be no easy task!

To really show your colors, be sure to change your Avatar to that of the Ursan Warrior! To do this, go to the "Settings" tab in the upper right, then go to "My Settings" in the left hand nav and then to "Edit Avatar" and choose the Warrior.

By pure bear, do you mean pure strength? :)

Pure strength definitely has its advantages, more of a tank. But more so than just being able to take damage, being a tank needs you to use your debuff/tanking spells properly. Hence more and more bears are adding dex to be able to actually use those spells and have them connect.

i agree with ellyidol, bears do need to have dex as well. i'm not saying that you need to go all the way and cross over to a dex/bear, but speaking for myself, i need to have the dex that i do to be effective in tanking. i've had a tank pretty much since swamps first came out last year in wolfling, and i tried the pure str route. i eventually respecced to enough str to fulfill my armor needs and then dumped almost all of the rest into dex. as a level 51 bear, i can hold my own against most chars and campaigns higher than me. i couldn't do that as a pure str bear previously.

now we just need more variation on duel wield weapons. dps dps dps dps. dex dps bear of doom. lols.

on a serious note, gear designed for speed for a duel wield bear, using a combination of dex and str, depending the weapon high str med dex, or high dex med str.

some examples.

mace and sword (examples not ideas for models just numbers)
str 50
dex 25

damage 22-56
speed 1.0

mace and mace
str 80
dex 25
damage 60-90
speed 1.5

sword and dagger
str 30
dex 80

damage 30-60
speed .7



various combos would give different bonuses like armour, or crit, to hit, damage.

Bears are very very good in pvp. Its just that we have low hit, and archers have high Dodge. Without the Dodge they can die very very easy. >lvl 60 pvp. In lvl 23-55 pvp they are very very very good, if done right.

Which is better, a sword without a shield or a club that gives less damage with a shield?

Well if you tank your case is armour - armour and again armour! But if your goal is dps and you should choose a big sword with pretty good dps - carefull not damage - dps! In your case i think for leveling the big two - handed will be your best friend. For me who i am a great tank (yeah 10lvl @@@it) i will took the shield and the club.
