View Full Version : PVP updates! Better pvping?

Pvp gets boring after awhile. With all my kills staking up, no challenge anymore or even a reason to pvp. There should be a pvp shop with a several rare items, only can be purchased with kills. (example- 2k kill you can buy a rare robe,hat,ring,etc..). Should help the game a lot. Everybody looks the same. There also should be necklaces, boots, gloves, and capes. Pocket legends has really good animations. Im sure they can make the capes look wicked.

Please tell me what you think about this.

With the huge problem with kill boosting and general unsportsmanlike conduct already running around in pvp do we need to give incentive for that behavior?

frozensummer
07-18-2011, 08:21 PM
boosting.. well maybe set a limit on how many times you can a certain person for certain time. no matter what, there will be unsportsmanlike conduct, they will just find their self hated and no one will want to stake them.

I like it but i dont think kills should be used as the currency. maybe Quarts or something lmao. For every kill you get you get some. but if you are in a game with more then one person on the other team and you keep killing the same person 3+ times you would get little to none Quarts.

Don't get me wrong in theory sounds awesome in theory just can't see it working in game. Make it too basic and people will find ways to exploit. However too complicated and people won't bother.

well mabe if you die you lose quarts. so this will help with people not being able to boost.

Your 100% right, pvp rewards would be great,
This has been the topic of many threads, and the problems concerning pvp rewards are expressed in all of them. The was a really good tread on it i read that ill try and dig up for you.

Anyways, remember PL wasnt build for pvp, pvp was only added by begging of the mass majority of players. The system will always br flawed it pvp as the classes are not equal- don't get me wrong- the Pve part of this game is great, and i have spent many, many, hours in pvp since it first came out. But until a major Pvp revamp comes it will not be too good. Rewards would be amazing though, thats for certain.

let people boost if they want. If people wanna waste their time then let em right? But the pvp reward system would def. bring me back to pvping. I quit cuz there was no incentive and too many trash talkers and people who are just jerks.

Quarts. Lol. HAVE a CAAARRTON of MILK for Killing this other player!

Anyway, boosting is the intentional killing of noobs, because you know you cannot lose to them. No way you will lose quarts.

yes, but if there was not pvp, what would be the point in leveling and making cash?? you spend hours leveling to look like everybody else in the game. A lot of people are quitting and not many people are even playing to reach level 30. There needs to be challanges. You make cash, and you get gear, then what? no need to make cash because you don't ever even lose items. so then you just spend countless hours doing nothing on the game. quest can go for so long. you complete quest while leveling.

but you will gain so little of them cuz they are lower level than you. And in low level pvp, to do that you would have to use very certain level ranges. cuz if you go 25 in order to pwn 20 you get into 25 games with level 30s who kill you. Only certain levels would be able to boost with little threat because some levels dont have many pvpers.

oh and noob, i mean 'pro' im working on the new pic :)

Except for the fact that when you boost, you do not die.

Boosting {B-oo-stuh-ing} (V)
The act of killing another player over and over who does not fight back to gain kills our points in pvp.

yeah but usually players take turns boosting, so if you die, you just lose.

No, they don't. Currently players seem to bribe newbies with an insanely low amount of gold(seems like a lot to the newbie) to let them kill them x amount of times. If players take turns, that isn't even boosting.

Let's be fair over the last year a TON of content has added to the variety with faces and vanities getting added in to the mix. Use to be the only way to look any different was to buy a 30k armor (huge amount of gold pre swamps and cs) and it was worthless for pve and basically worn in the ONE town we had. While more varity is welcome there are tons of options outhere if you want to look different.

I don't pvp so I could care less but some of the major complaints is pvp is unbalanced, juvenile behavior when killed or killing someone else, buying kills (we recently found this to be true). With these facts it makes pvp look kind of lame. Pvp was thrown in by devs to make players happy. But it needs totally reworked. What you going to do about players who manipulated their kills to get a high rank on the leaderboard? I would not want a reward system that rewards lame or cheating behavior. The name calling and juvenile behavior needs addressed too before a reward system is put in. Pvp should be completely reworked so that its fun and enjoyable for those who like that aspect of the game.

question, what do you do when play pocket legends? repeat the same things over and over?

i think having an incentive to pvp is a great idea.

i would def say limit the amount of pvp currency gained from one player
ex. i can only kill someone 3 times for the currency in 24 hours after the 3rd kill, defeating him/her would not give me anything - that can def stop the newbie farming

also make it so that you receive less (maybe like half the norm) currency points from those who are more than 2lvls lower than you because i can just see lvl 20s stalking lvl 15 games and lvl 16s stalking lvl 10-12 games

tbh its hard finding an incentive for me to lvl up since I work and take university classes, PL is usually just a good way to relax a bit
and seriously i find it pretty hard to find random games now to get a good lvl up time and my highest character is only lvl 27

my 'farming' is doing like 5 runs lol
i had my longest farming run ever with the 21 guys yesterday lol and i know i came in after they had a few runs already

pvping is great because i can just stop lvling at lvl 12/15 and have fun
but yes it would be better if there was an incentive and some cooler gear/vanity items that could come from it

yes!

And frozen's first post about capes and gloves, etc, sounds very interesting. If the devs see promise in that idea and aren't too busy with SL, just maybe.

The thing is like leaderboards any system like this would get abused and I don't think nearly enough people pvp to make it worthwhile. I know more people who don't pvp than do. The people that do are very vocal and passionate about it.

There are a TON of people who pvp. Pvp is the number one incentive to buy platinum btw. Respecs and platinum packs are a huge part of making builds for pvp. Also, since this would be an INCENTIVE for people to start pvping, you'd have more pvpers.

The social part of it would likely get all firey and smelly from troll sweat tho....

haha so true! come on spacetime! this idea could generate more money!
HerWolf is right though, the only uses for platinum would be more auction/inventory slots and new campaigns if not for pvp because those premium lvl packs are actually pretty good

I agree with everything the thread is about. PvP incentives, more reason to PvP, etc.

But, I honestly think that before they consider implementing any incentive, that they should fully balance PvP - both end game and twinking.

The current kills/ratios won't count of course :p

PvP rewards have always worked well in games that have them, assuming they're done well and PvP is balanced too.

But yeah, with how PvP is set up in this game I can see how it can be abused :(

My best experience on PvP rewards was RF Online.

Each character had "Race Points". This was built up by doing quests, winning the daily "chip war" (almost like defend the base, first one to destroy the base of the other wins), and killing the opposite race.

The amount you get is different depending on how much the killing person's race points versus the race points of the one who died, so at times you could get as much as 10,000 race points if you are lucky enough to get a kill off a high levelled guy.

These race points were used to rank the people in the race. The top 10 players would have a weekly voting system, you could vote for any of the top 10 and the top 3 become like the "council" of the week who lead the chip wars.

Alternatively, these race points could be used to get other stuff in-game, PvP armours, weapons, etc :)

It worked well because you could only lose a certain % of your race points a day, so you couldn't really abuse it that much. Also, if you were caught, it was bannable :p

so, if i understand right, u cant get any race points from a seconday dummy account wich u just kill to boost u, bcz he hasnt any points?

Yup! If you actually bother to level up the second account, do quests, kill other races, etc, you'd be better off just playing your main character in the first place and just normal PvP :)

That's why it worked so well with that game, though it was a PC game. :p

If sts followed this type of set up for pvp rewards, then I'm sure it would work out just fine. This would be totally awesome, only problem is that rushers could still barge into a game and steal points, then leave. I guess that would be up to the ones in game to keep on their guard if they decide to socialize

Then there could be a 1vs1 option that can be ticked at game host. So people cant do 2vs1 unless it hasnt been ticked at the hosting of the game.
