I just wanted to make this thread because it just seems like people don't like using the charged attack on their weapons (unless it's arcane, but I'll leave those out because those are different). My knowledge of other classes has gone a bit rusty,so lemme know if there's any mistakes. :)

1.First off, it depends on what kind of weapon you are using. If you are using the Staff,Daggers,or Shield, you can get better benefits out of the charged attack. Bows,Guns, and 2-Handed weapon, not so much (unless it's a mythic which has the same benefits as Staff,Daggers, and Shield)

2.Here are comparisons between normal and charged attacks:

Normal Attack (Staff,Shield,Daggers):
-Basic Damage
-Hits up to 2 enemies
-Hits fast

Charged Attack (Staff,Shield,Daggers):
-Double Damage
-Hits up to 4 enemies (3 if Daggers)
-Increased proc chance? (I'm uncertain, but I'll leave this here)
-Chance to stun enemies

Normal Attack (Guns,Bows,2-Handed):
-Basic Damage
-Hits up to 1 enemy
-Hits fast

Charged Attack (Guns,Bows,2-Handed):
-Double Damage
-Hits up to 1 enemy (nearby enemies if mythic)
-Increased proc chance?
-Chance to stun enemies

3.So you are probably wondering, when you should use normal and charged attacks, don't worry I'll give you my opinion on when to use normal or charged weapon attacks:
-Use normal attack when fighting small groups of enemies or a boss
-Use charged attack on big, extremely crowded groups of enemies,or if you feel like doing some big damage.

Anyways I hope this helps you guys out on when to use normal or charged weapon attacks. :)

Yeah, I've also seen many just spam basic attack and never charge.
Imo timing charged attack is very important, i generally charge attack when encased in any type of shield and all skills are cooling down.
Also its wise to charge cast consecration in the duration of mage shield invulnerability/warrior heal shield ad consecration takes 1.5 second but buffs all allies (esp for underhul elite it helped a lot)
Haven't played end game tank or rogue but tanks can charge arc sword while brood fury is active as lava pools do the dps job. :)

Unless it was recently changed, charged normal attacks also have a good chance to stun mobs.

As a rogue never charge your attacks, charged means few and delayed hits and less proc chances. The only skills you need to charge are razor shield (pve) and packs (pvp).

I always use Charged Attack of Arcane Blades and it can hit more than 3. Hmm maybe because the mobs are nab. They are not from Tindirin, Glint and Underhul. But because of this thread, I'll try later if it is really just by three. I hope my blades wont proc (proc of Arc Blades) so I would know if who got damaged by charged attack.

Interesting to read not to charge attacks, I'll see for myself if I get more proc from attacks. But as for know I seem to do more dmg,and get more proc when charged. I'm strictly pve .
