Aren't PvP maps for, well, PvP?

I'm a bit new to the twinking world, just got my bear to 31 today (thank you Myst).

9 times out of 10, the PvP rooms I join (non-created ones, seem to be no host all the time) are NOT for PvP.

Am I missing something? The moment I try to PvP, very interesting remarks are used. Lol.

Can't count how many I've reported today alone due to the language they use.

PS. This isn't intended to troll, for flames, or anything. I really don't get it, where's the PvP?

I understand that, I do too. But these games are non-hosted and random, which gives me the impression that they weren't created to invite friends to chat in but to solely to PvP.

I just don't get it when both teams just stand there doing nothing, and the moment you engage them they reply as if they hosted the game, but they didn't 0.0

I don't wanna seem arrogant by whipping out the shield though.. But will try that :)

And yeah I was told 31 was a good level to stay between 35 and below? And yes, talon/str armour bear. Not sure if I'm doing it right though :D

When I first started at that level on my bear, people weren't nice. As you started to kill voodoo mages, etc, they, um, started to behave? (bad wording I think) Versus when I created my mage; generally, people just don't trash talk voodoo mages. They'd rather not get beat up.

Ty too bro:) Sorry I couldn't help more. I was trying to multi task and had to jet off somewhere. It's hard to find a FFA at most levels. You pretty match have to challenge people to a 1V1 or just find a full game and ask for FFA and hope they agree.

So 35-or so PvP is more on 1v1 rather than FFA type? Two different builds for that, IMO.

I don't really know how to describe it.. a strong first nuke and then minor damage after. They basically rule 30-35 PvP due to regen and heals. But with that comes a huge ego for most of them; they just think they can beat any other class.

As a voodoo myself, I'll give you pointers for a bear: 2h swords. We get murdered if you combo us correctly with an iceberg sword (color don't matter, but green works better of course). Just keep us close and get that hell scream in ASAP. If you're running evasion, best to have it maxed. I don't think crippling blow against voodoos is very effective, in spite of its unhealable effect...

btw i'm unbaised as i'm working on a 30-31 bear myself :)

I see. Anything special with the 2H sword? Or because it has high base damage?

I'll have to work on balancing my buffs, at the moment I haven't picked between dodge/armour yet. Tips there? :)

Crippling has -65 damage versus the -30 of HS though, or is it because of the -30 Hit of HS?

Crippling blow.. it's amazing if you get it off before they can fully combo. I used to not carry it, but later on as I was experimenting with builds I did; took be about 1-2 weeks before I got the hang of it, worked very well after. CB and the Iceberg Long were the only ways I could beat voodoos. Iceberg long was less reliable -- needed at least two crits to single combo them, and the good voodoos can combo you fast enough you don't get any follow up slashes. After CB, mages weren't too hard.

Birds were my problem, I'd need to hit both beckon and CB to win, but they have ~40 dodge, so it's not like it happened a lot. (40 dodge means you'd have a 36% chance of hitting both). If you ever find a way to destroy the warbirds, lmk :)

They dodge everything!!! It's not unusual to see 4 dodges in a row with them D:

edit: I haven't tried a dodge-bear at that level.. time to give up some IB and stomp(at 35). They can't dodge dodge, can they?

lol of course not, but that means you'll rely on your wep more for damage. Plus when evasion wears off (and it will in a dodge fight) then you'll be rather frail.... against warbirds, you'll win most of the time unless they have maxed blinding shot.

I was planning on putting it into taunt, perma 16 dodge, with no mana cost. Auto deals rougly 60-70 damage at 1.0 speed when buffed against a warbird. 88 armor.

I need to remake that twink :/

Ooh theres an easy way to beat dodge warbirds.

You HAVE to stomp first, if it misses, then hell scream. Run back a little, wait for blinding to wear off, then Smash. Works all the time. Don't even need crush.

All warbirds at 35 dodge, it's not like a 'dodge warbird'. Stomp is only 8 meter range, they can do 60% of your health if they're good before you get there. You need beckon to hit.

ahem, back on-topic.... Yeah crushing at lvl 35 is something i wanna look into still... though i think max iron blood will be a better investment than evasion... could be wrong tho

Thanks for the responses guys! Still testing and learning more and more about twinking, very interesting :)

I'm still unsure on exactly how potent a Lv 3 or so IB is, with or without it, I seem to still get easily brought down by a good mage.

HS is still as useful in twinking as it was in end-game :) Just a bit confused, is it better to use it early (with the risk of it "missing", like after a corner) or later in the fight?

CB has also been my favourite, though landing it can get tricky.

dropping your opponent's hit rate and damage early is important. Plus hell scream has a hidden armor debuff as well, do your combo will hit harder if you land it beforehand.

As for Iron blood, I find lvl 1 potent enough :) but it's all user preference

Moving on to 50, the only people there seem to be chill, as I did it on my bear; bringing up my bird and old 35 mage there now.

30 and 35 isn't an excuse unless you're talking about mages. They really aren't that different for bears/birds.
