really doesn't matter what OS you have.
If your WiFi connection is a potato, it won't matter how great your device specs are.

Although, if you have a good WiFi connection, but your device's WiFi card isn't too great
current devices tend to have wifi cards with support for 802.11n and/or 802.11ac

VPNs (especially the free ones) will likely slow down your connection
(since your traffic would have to first go to the VPN, then to wherever the AL servers are located)

use an app such as speedtest.net to see if your ping to local servers is great. I for example have a ping of between 5-8 to servers in Europe, between 50-100 to servers in US and around 150 to arcane legends.
It might not be your internet or device. It might be where you are accessing from.

There is a valid point in one of the comments about the 2.4 and 5 GHz connections to newer routers. However even older phones such as the galaxy s3 and nexus 5 already support 5 GHz. I have an old laptop, which only can connect to 2.4 GHz and gets double ping + only half of the 50Gbits i am getting on all my other devices.

Either way the problem is not in android :)

Thanks! I didn't used VPN but somebody told me it can make my ping better. I won't download it.
