Giving to someone who leaves results in no message

When you give something to someone, who then leaves (changes towns, logs out), there is no message that your give fails, such as, "There is no such person nearby" or something.

There should be a message.

It says, "Character Not Found", if they aren't there and/are changing.\

No matter what you give, if they are in the vicinity of that map, they'll receive it.

Nope, they did not receive it. I gave an item, no message. I tried another item, no message. I still have the items. I back out of my menus. The person is gone. No message.

BTW, I'm on iPad.
