In PL, the ability to use specific gear is based on STR/DEX/INT stats. This is what enables the creation of hybrid characters—you can make the character a certain base class to get certain skills, but then increase the appropriate stats to use a different type of gear. This is well established in PL, and many people do it.

In SL, gear usage is all based on class (except for a few totally classless items). This means you cannot create a hybrid character at all. Furthermore, it makes the STR/DEX/INT stats themselves actually kinda useless. As an example, consider switching from Neutronic to FusionCore gear. Although the FusionCore gear lowers those stats overall, and this should worsen speed/hit%/crit, the gear itself increases those other stats by more than enough to offset the effect. Therefore, you're better off with all FusionCore *even though it gives you terrible STR/DEX/INT stats*.

I see several possible solutions to this. I don't really care which one is employed (even getting rid of STR/DEX/INT completely makes some sense), but right now it seems a little off.

Yes, the Moon is a harsh mistress, and hybrids are useless.
