Is It Worth It?

​As the title says I'm contemplating about the recent update to the game. There is no doubt that the arrival of the houses has injected some fun in the game but is it value for money?
In the UK, in order to purchase the Tavern(1k plat) you will have to buy the 1700 plat package which is £69.99 equating to approximately 89 Euros or 101.89 US Dollars.
I'm wondering why the price was set so high and whether STS believes that it represents good value. I'm also asking the AL community for constructive feedback. This is of genuine interest to me, I'm interested in all points of view provided they are CONSTRUCTIVE.

Houses serve absolutely no purpose at the moment, so I'd say no, it isn't worth it. If you really want a house to hang out with friends in or something, just get the Cottage until STS gives us a legitimate reason to waste 1000 Platinum, plus the weekly Platinum costs of upkeep since it's currently impossible to get enough Estate Tokens for upkeep without spending real money.
