View Full Version : The reputation system, too big?

As I see it, it takes thousands of reputation points to fill up the reputation bar. Isn't that a little high? It might take you years of being on the forums to fill that up. I think the reputation system should either be a little friendlier to use (bigger reputation button, a little less points to fill it up) or take the bar away completely, and you would fill up you bar in secret. Then after you got so many reputation points, you couod change your status to "civilized member", and a few points later "honored member", the highest being "Player Mentor".
Just a few thoughts, let me know what you think. Please no flaming or trolling, just comment/critique!

^ i agree more Forums ranks would be nice like after so many post you would get Living legend or something like Forums lord idk more forum ranks

The secon bar is 50- and you star at 10. That's all I know.
How do you check your reputation points? I'm completely oblivious; I accidentally stumbled across it once, but I can't seem to find it again. It feels like Alice in Wonderland when Alice fell through the rabbit hole :).

Click that reputation button on one of your posts and you see it. ;)

Press the thumbs up on the left bottom corner of post and then press Approve and give a reason.

I've been playing around with the Reputation system. Sorry Ellyidol, I was mucking with yours. Looks like the rate that the green bars goes out is a hard coded thing, so I'm going to have to go with plan B for making things move along faster, I'll post more details when I get it sorted.

yes- click on the little thumb on any of your own posts, and it will show you your points

BUT! Before you go flaming there is a very valid reason why... I just wanted to show everyone that the reputation system is functioning and I have 2 BARS!!!! I just didn't see the purpose in starting a thread over this when one already existed :)
Finally it moves....lol

Yeh :-) also, looking at some of the reputation given, from what I can tell you only receive actual points from senior members... at first I couldn't figure out why some boxes showed up green while others (all positive) showed up as gray? I have come to the conclusion this it to prevent abuse of the system by creating secondary accounts to award yourself rep and a safe guard to maintain the integrity of the reputation points. I'm still not 100% positive if my thoery is correct? You have any ideas?

I don't think others can tell how much points you have, so you'll have to check it yourself in a browser. Go to Settings in the upper right of the screen, below you should see your points.
