Contest: Design a vanity helm

Hey guys, With B* still a very new game, theres tons of items and content still in the future. So I would like to make a vanity helm contest.

The Idea:

-Design a vanity helm you would like to have in star legends
-Please create your own images, but photoshop or anything else is fine.
-Yes, you can hand draw em.

Rewards:
50 Platinum in Star Legends, 300k in Pocket Legends and 15k in Star legends for 1st place
25 Platinum in Star Legend for 2nd and 3rd place.
- Nyx and Carth donated making the donation in credits pool to 15k


Other Thoughts
- You don't have to be in SL to do this competiton- if you win you will get 300k in apL and the other prizes will go on the the runners up.
-I plan on having another contest soon that doesn't take artistic qualities

haha no worries, you could always download a camera scanner from the app store, assuming you have android.
it takes good "scan" like pictures, then you can edit it out a bit, go over lines etc.

So i was reading about this contest thats going on.... and decided to put a design together for u guys. I work alot so i couldnt spend to much time on this. So I put together a simple concept helm design that i came up with. Kinda mixed in a few ideas from halo, crysis, and few things of my own, to the design. The design took me about 4 hours to put together. I wanted to use Illustrator for this, to show that this was totally created from scratch. I suck at drawing on paper.. lol So here's what i came up with..

My first contest entry here go easy on me.
I did these with pencil and ink. Im no good with colors because im colorblind. This was quite difficult to think of ideas but these are what came to me.

I think this would be cool if the left eye sends a red pulse across it every so often. The right eye could wiggle around or zoom in and out.

Heres my entry! I made it last night and spent a while trying to redo on my ipod with the Sketchbook app. But the free one is so limited so it was hard....So I gave up xD But I kept the sketch and I think the sketch is pretty good!

On a side note, look up "different storm clouds" on google and press the wikipedia link! I didnt read all the facts...but the pictutres of the clouds are pretty cool...I dont see most of em that often...

EDIT: I dont know why the paper is orange-ish....I guess having 2 lights in the room on at the same time wasnt good? Lol...

EDIT Again: Forgot to add that the zig zag halo thing below the cloud is what the player wears on his/her head. The cloud sits on top the halo thing.

"Vorg Implants" Resistance Is Futile...
So here is my submission though I took the effort and time to draw and redraw obviously this concept really isn't new, will this disqualify me? Who knows but none the less I would love to see this helm in Star Legends.

If this helm were to hit the platinum store or in game market place I am sure it would sell immediately, as well as leave a great demand for further "Vorg" (As I call them) implant vanity costume pieces, even though vanity costumes are not currently available but we can all dream and with the new guild out there always shouting assimilate I image every one of their members would have a set even if in their case it would be a waste of good pixels. Hehe.

Space pirates are cool, and I wanted something to stand out from the tech and look a little pirate like. But skulls and cross bones are a little cliche, so the next best thing is ram's horn. I'm not religious, but I think it's pretty neat that sculptors and painters throughout the ages depicted Moses as being wise by giving him horns. If I wanted a space pirate helmet for a salty pirate captain, this is the direction I would take it.

Does it lead away from the theme of SL? Up to you, I suppose, but I see it more as an additive than a distractive concept. I certainly understand both sides of the fence.

Anyway, yeah, I draw for a living, so my pictures will be above average. But concept always means more than execution. Looking back at other contests, I drew a really cool hammer wrapped in vines from the Dark Forest who's head was heated by Silknight's fire. Cool idea in my book, but nowhere near as cool as using the head of Meathead for a hammer(which very rightly won). So, don't ever get dazzled by sugar when you are looking for meat, certainly don't be intimidated by it, either.

In college(SCAD) we were taught it was an archaic misinterpretation or translation of the bible that horns represented wisdom that Moses received from God when he came down the mountain with the ten commandments. It lasted hundreds of years, but went out of fashion with revised/more popular translations and such. I don't think that site exactly got it right, but it's not far off. Regardless, it was an interesting historical concept to play off of.

It's cool, no doubt about it. It reminds me primarily of the cyclops, which is mythic and full of awesome. It also reminds me of the Edsel. Wiki says the joke about the Edsel was that it looked like a pontiac sucking on a lemon, but that's not the joke I heard! ;)

It's the EXACT same helmet. EXACTLY the same. I mean look at it? You can tell it's been printed out in greyscale. Plus, even taking an idea and redrawing it isn't an original idea, and it still cheating. And that's not even the case here, but that's EXACTLY THE SAME.

Not trying to be a thread superhero but Firehawks submission also looks a lot like one of the playable Locust characters from Gears of War 2. I wanna say either the hammerhead or a sniper variant? Hard to find pictures of it...I have found one but its not very sharp and you cant make out a lot of detail...just the vertical narrow eye and helmet shape. I can't access xbox live atm, so if anyone else feels lke doing some snooping, please check out the playable characters from GoW2 on xbl.
