Ok so like most people I got up early (around 5) to pre order my phone. Had issues ordering, so I clicked to see what people are saying on the apple forum. My eyes almost fell out when I saw 50 or so pages of people complaining. I kept on clicking like crazy, while watching the world cup soccer matches LOL. After getting super excited 3-4 times after getting past the first 3 ordering pages after a gazillion error messages, only to be disappointed again, I finally was able to place an order for my new baby. So 9 hours and about 50 more pages added to the forum complain thread, I was finally happy and did not have the nerve to keep on reading the complains of the other couple of million people trying to do what I just did...

Time spent: 9hours clicking every minute
Price: ~250 (damn CA taxes and AT&T $18 upgrade fee)
Result: I iz happy!

Was it worth it? HELL YEAH!

So, straight up - can you grandfather the unlimited data plan onto an iPhone 4? Or does upgrading force you to take one of the GB bucket plans? Same account / contract / phone #, etc.

You can grandfather in the unlimited data plan, even people still on 2g (silver) iphones that never upgraded to 3g are eligible for 3g grandfathered unlimited data plans.

I couldn't get passed the timeouts when trying to preorder my iphone 4 on apple and att. I did get a preorder reservation for the local applestore, but seeing as its still first-come, first-served basis, I'll be camping out wednesday night :\

You are correct feral. Here's what Gizmodo had to say about the ordering issue:

AT&T Suspends iPhone 4 Pre-Ordering After System Collapse (http://gizmodo.com/5565084/att-suspends-iphone-4-pre+ordering-after-system-collapse)

iPhone 4 Delayed Again: Now July 14th (http://gizmodo.com/5565259/iphone-4-delayed-again-now-july-14th)

Lol those a* holes pulled a 180 (from apple fan boys to apple haters) ever since the lawsuit
