PVP community gives a lot of feedback on gear procs, pet AA's, and skills.
However, you (STS) are trying to make objective decisions while relying on the narrow, biased, and often times subjective viewpoints of the PVP community.
Why not release mini pvp events where you control the parameters for participating, and then have a referee of sorts who can observe clashes between simlarly geared players using pets that counter each others AA?
EDIT: You don't rely solely on the pvp community, but since mobs cant file complaints with STS regarding players being too strong, you will undoubtedly find these balance problems through pvp.
