We already have gems/jewels that can augment our stats, how cool would it be if we could enchant our weapons to deal elemental effects?

A fire enchantment creates a fiery visual effect on the weapon and it places a DoT on the enemy on a basic attack that could be stacked up to a certain amount of damage per tick.

A lightning enchantment creates a static visual effect on the weapon and it uses a new status effect called "static" that causes the enemy to have its movement stunted per tick, which would freeze it's movement every second for a short period of time (kind of like a strobe light) and if the enemy is killed while the effect is still there, there is a chance that it could explode dealing small damage to nearby enemies and applying the static effect on these enemies.

An ice enchantment creates a frost visual effect on the weapon and it slows enemy movement and attack speed, and lowers hit and crit chance. The snare would be stacked with each hit causing the enemy to get slower with each normal attack and would slowly regain its normal speed (or defrost) as the player stops applying the ice attacks.

ive been thinking about this new thing.

new elemental proc on new types of item rarity (weapons).this new rarity is called *COSMIC* (credit to @Badass) release during new expansion after Underhul..there are 5 types of primary element in it:

-fire
-water
-wind
-lightning
-earth

player can also combine 2 different types of element proc from same types of weapons and level to get new proc.but they need to do a quest first as this new combining stuff will unlock a powerful element style along with proc bonus on their weapons.players also need to open massive cryostar locked to get some ingredients to complete this quest.once completed player can combine no matter for what class of the weapons it is as long as it is same types but only different in element style

example of new element:

fire + water : steam element
water + wind : storm element
fire + earth : lava element
water + earth : wood element

as for the rest of the taunt,stun,AoE,banish,DoT bonus proc that player will receive from combining the primary element on their weapons ill leave it to STS to think about it..

NOTE* this weapons is for endgame only.all the primary elemented weapons can be obtained from farming normal maps.but to complete the quest player have to do elite

I think we should also have alchemy and use the leftovers from events as ingredients for new enchamtments and potions
