We're working on making Trade more secure, and during that discussion Give came up.

Does anyone use Give for it's actual intention, or is is more often used as a tool for griefing?

Thanks for the thoughts :)

I honestly use it when a beggar says "gold pls" so I just empty my random epic items that can be liquidated for a few gold

I have however had it used on me for dumping crafting items because they don't sell for any gold so it's quicker to pawn it off on someone else I guess

I use gift a lot when I transfer lots of items like jewels, chests etc. Until there's an option to trade 100+ chests in a counter form, I would like to keep this gifting feature.

I usually use give to let my friend test out my items or an easier way to trade items of I trust them.

I (we) are using give pretty often for it's actual intention. If you just want to give something to somebody without expecting anything in return then trade is just to inconvenient. (Ofc only if the other person agrees on getting the stuff). Well sure there are some people out there using the give function to get on other peoples nerves but to avoid that there is the "reject gifts" option. However the ones using 'give' for it's actual intention are the ones not using 'reject gifts' in most cases I guess:wink:

Please do not remove 'Give' :)

I use it to give some items to random players in cities:

But I feel that tool can be bad for some guys because when one player give many items to another player then he types stop noob!!

Same here. Reject gifts button is enough imo, or we need need a huge trade window, maybe with a counter.

Indeed. Only the possibility to trade stacks of items like jewels (maybe 50 at a time) would overtop the give function.

Sounds like it is a useful feature. Maybe "reject gifts" is on by default?

That would make it impossible to gift stuff to players standing in town, e.g. a Frost egg that I just got from Klaas might help a newbie. I don't think that they check options and enable gifts at the very start of their gaming experience.

i use it most of the times to transfer items quicker between alts, but to avoid being gifted junks from some randoms, i have to continuously turn on and turn off this feature, which is troublesome

i think you should provide an automated system to report this junk gifter and automatically block their gift feature,

but then again, people won't give junks if we have an easily manageable inventory/trading window, which support grouping, and mass transfer

I think it would take some time until newbies find out that they need to turn off 'reject gifts' in options since they can't see that they can't receive any items via give. Of course other players could tell him and he could as well not know that there is the possibility to reject gifts the other way round. So it wouldn't make much sense in my opinion. Maybe there is a way to give the info about this option somewhere in the beginning of the game to let new people know, because for those knowing about it it doesn't matter if its turned on or off by default.

Nice idea but I think this is not easy to do since anyone can report and block someones gift feature (if its fully automated and not complicated). But would be possible for sure.

only bad thing about it is that sometimes we get spammed with water jewels. I don't see anything bad about it, actually it's useful when we sell massive amounts of items to someone, like jewels etc.

It's very useful when passing back materials for dolls. Passing jewels to people who need them.

For example: I can't be bothered crafting my water and natures. However, there are people that I know that do. So, I just collect them and then mass gift them all at once. As for dolls/cryogem buffs I just pass back materials to people who are mass opening them for the currency given.

The times I've gotten grief gifts is very few. It's easily avoidable by putting reject gifts on.

a simple logic like block the gift feature if someone got reported after giving something is enough, imo.

if the receiver is happy, they won't send the report. and the receiver can't report anyone as junkers if they haven't receive anything from the gifter

imo, the junk gifter clearly disturb other player's gaming experience, and need to be punished
