Custom Op set vs Plat Op gear

Getting a lot of questions in game if Custom set is better then Plat 30 gear. Heres the differences.

From What I hear the Commando Set is lacking Dodge, I wonder if all the dodge is a bug from the Operative Plat gear?

Thanks Elly, Plat set is lacking major HP to be considered survival IMO. If it were closer to the Custom HP it would be amazing survival gear :bull_head:

Yeah true. I would pick the custom set permanently. Looks cooler, much rarer, and you want to deal damage anyway, not tank :)

Makes me want to ditch PL and go to SL now. Lol.

Im sorry, just noticed this is not accurate. I had a lower implant on with the plat gear. Difference is +10 dps.

Seeing as how there aren't any new weapons listed in the Weapon Customization station thing, there won't be any weapon recipes. :)

I will go out on a limb here and say there is only one pink per class, much like goo sleeves, iHelmet, and battlemarked plate from lv.20. What I wanna know is do the pinks break the set bonus? I don't wanna lose my lightning bolts (set sparkles) for 20 more armor and a point of crit or whatever the pink offers..

Uh...plat gear sucks for this level eh?
Gotta be a glitch or something...why would an operatives gear take away from crit and give to dodge...especially with a huge loss of hp...

Unless this set is the opposite from the lvl 25 sets where plat gives the most crit...seems like a no-brainer to go with custom set this time.

Yes. There is a bonus set for full crafted set
+20health and +1hs. That's all:)

I think so. There is no pink craft item in the craft station yet so far. So I presume that is only purple set ATM:)

By the way, the custom set is superior to the purple set in every way right? No need to farm 2 sets, 1 to make custom and 1 to keep purple?

No bro. Crafted purple will overwrite the original purple. So u will only remain crafted set.

Sorry to derail the OP from an Op discussion to a general discussion, hope it's okay since this is the biggest the SL forum has on gear/set discussion.

I just got 30 and I got the full plat armours for commando as well as a few weapons, still working on that custom set since I'm slowly collecting pieces/crafting materials.

I love the damage/crit the plat set gives, which made me think that the plat set kinda makes sense.

AFAIK, Op plat set gives dodge (survival) while custom set gives good crit (damage). Commando plat set gives crit (damage) while custom set gives good dodge/armor (survival). Not sure on Eng since I haven't seen comparison on both.

It makes sense because the custom set (attainable in-game) gives exactly what the class role is supposed to be, Op gives damage and Commando gives tanky-ness. The plat set gives the opposite. Which makes sense, you don't have to have the plat gear, it's an alternative.

In PL terms, its like the custom set is a str/tank set for bears, while the plat set is a dex/crit set for bears.

That's what I've noticed and my opinion.

Crit is the most vital offensive stat besides damage.

Dodge is the most vital defensive stat, period.


So I would say that you could use either set for Ops or Commandos depending on your playing style. However, I think in terms of class focus, most people will like to use the non-plat versions of armor, giving crit to the damage-dealing class, and dodge to the tank class. :)
