All you miss out on is the aggro-heavy aoe from the cannon, which can be handy in big mobs, but if you dont have a problem keeping aggro, then i dont see whats wrong with your preference of weapon.

How did it go from 7k+xp for 26 to 34+xp for 31...IMO the devs need to cut the xp down a bit for the 'hardcore' levels.

The more xp you need to get, the more plat you'll spend on elixirs...it's sad really. The only purpose of 'elite' levels is to make money, especially with no reward for doing so. 7k to 34k after 1 update...at this rate when we get to 60(61) it'll be 700 million xp to get from 60 to 61...Also notice there's no real "xp farming" level on slouch-o?

No reason NOT to use a shield currently. Too much of a benefit.

And yes... 34k XP without 60 minute elixirs?... bleh, no thanks.

IMO, there are some maps in Slouch that don't really call for AOE weapons. Just a good Gravity Well should be more than enough to clump them up and have the group finish them. Unlike in Numa where you have literally a lot of mobs that are able to be clumped up well.

Okay maybe I'm kind of an overcontrolling extremist... ;)

But I see no reason why a Commando should ever use a pistol and shield. If you don't care about AOE damage or it isn't needed, use a rifle. Rifles were much used throughout Numa Prime, and are still the best damage output (single-target) for a Comm. Like in PL, Damage > DPS. Even through the Black Widow is only 4-8 damage below the Atomic Disperser, it's still much more significant than a measly 144 armor. :)

P.S.- if you're a Comm, just run ahead a bit and aggro a group of enemies, pulling them back to group with the ones your team is near. If you're not luring and grouping enemies, you're wasting a ton of your class's potential.

Night has a point.

Acyer, would you be able to get the stats of the best purple rifle that a commando can use and post it here too?

See i feel all maps are like this in sloucho i have faith in my mando skills that i dont have to rely on a cannon all the time.

And sorry if I sound like a dictator demanding that everyone do things his way. I'm used to people looking for the absolute most efficient gear in games like this, such as PL.

I just assume that since people pay 150k+ to craft custom gear and only get a single regen as a bonus, they would be trying to find the most effective weapon for their class. However, I respect everyone's right to play however they want. :)

I tried fiddling around with plat gear, I have to say that the only time I find use for a pistol+shield setup is when fighting the director and successfully getting aggro. Other than that, a rifle for damage and canon for good AoE, IMO.

Pistol+Shield has really good stats though.

I personally like more armor and I dont see the point of 4-2 damage decrease and all I see is the armor increase
More armor= less deaths
Or thats how I see it
