View Full Version : A new approach towards gifting items.

Hello everyone! In this post I would like to discuss something about my new thought towards gifting items to other players in game. We are often familiar about people getting scammed while giving their stuffs to other fellow players to try them out and whom they trust very well but end up being unfortunate when they are not returned back as expected. Recently an old friend of mine from level 18 got scammed of her gears in a similar manner and sadly she quit. In order to avoid such situations here are my thoughts regarding gifting as follows :
"Give " option should have two sub options aka "gifting permanently " or "gifting for trial purpose" and with this option the player ll be given a choice for how much time he/she intends to give an item to another player for trial purpose for example :- 3 min. The items ll remain un tradable and un stashable during that time. The player who is receiving the item ll get a timer notification like mute timers for example , and that the item received ll be returned to its owner's inventory after completion of the given time period.

Another notification ll be given again to the receiver as well as the owner who has given it which would be 10 secs prior to the items being returned to the inventory of the owner. For example the receiver ll get " you have 10 secs remaining for trial" and the owner ll get "10 secs remaining for your item retrieval " , after which the owner ll get back his/her given items in inventory. Then both ll get a final notification saying "the item have been returned back to its ower". The only stuffs which ll not be eligible to be given by this option ll be pet eggs, elixir kits, packs and jewels. This would not only prevent just scams but also keep players in a safe side from gear loss and theft. Comments are most welcome!
Thanks!

Wrathskull.

A "borrow for x time" feature. It sounds great! Maybe difficult to implement? (although I wouldn't really know)

Good suggestion . But can you imagine actually coding that in ? Ouh that sounds hard .

If you don't want it stolen, don't gift it. Simple as that.

Never give anything to anyone that's all problem solved , actually we make them to scam us intentionally becoz they get tempted no wrong!

Trust someone you dont know? We don't even know who they are in real life, come on it's like jumping into the danger zone inspite seeing the notice board

And it's really hard to implement it I think it can lead to bugs :3 exploits

I play runescape and they allow this option (ign Vietnam). People can rent out their items for money also! I think its a great idea.

Actually, that idea is pretty awesome. Just imagine renting out ur stuff for a few gold while u sleep. Then again with the undercutting that goes on in AL I'll probably be getting no more than 25k for my stuff.

Making it more complicated @.@ ,this is arcane legends not runscape , there's no need for it in al

Again saying it's like complicated I think I'm not sure idont get it , how can u lend your item to someone a timer runs? Automatically the money get transfered from the user to lender? , we are not the only one playing this game there are many so it's complicated And more over people don't prefer to buy it that way (it's like you change you pet when it becomes hungry to save money) all they do is ignore this way they can save their money and buy those stuffs permanently so its useless have this lending thing so why make a mechanism which isn't useful

We all know that as soon as this comes out, people will find some sort of exploit to duplicate or some other bogus. Then there will be another awakening of the "stop farming, wait for exploit" mindset.

I see where you're going with this, but unless you would trust this person with your account (which is against the TOS - don't do), you shouldn't give them anything of value.

Disclaimer: I have given and received items worth a great sum of money, and the thought of scamming them has never come across my mind. To some people pixels on a screen are worth more than trust.

I didn't said i did trust someone i don't know. And as well i got scammed by friend that i knew more than year. I had his Facebook, whatsapp and so on. Well yet it happens. Some people are scammers and don't matter if you know them in real or not.

i think good idea but people will be able to exploit this feature. an axample i can think of right now is deleting the item once u get it so the system doesnt think u have it anymore. But once set period is expired. you can retrieve it back. It's just simple to not trust anyone. if they wanna try it, u can on auction. pretty much every time is in auc. just press display except for pets ofc

This'll make mid-players borrow from pro-players stuffs before they actually buy those stuff without the pro-players worrying about trust issues

Yeah. I myself have few old friends and we use each other gear most of time when someone need. But as for them i sure i wont lost my items and They are sure too. Its nice to have friends like that when your weapon is upgrading and you want to farm or something xD
However really be sure you can trust them 100%. Don't force yourself to trust. I did and i lost item back few seasons ago. Stupid [emoji14] but i learned lesson

We all make mistakes from time to time
We learn from them which makes us better and not to trust the wrong kind of people :)
