is there now a tonne of people on the forums?
I've only been away from the forums for a week and now i see massive amounts of people viewing the forums, when usually there's only maybe a couple.

They are bots so if you see like 500 guests on, most of them are bots.

There are people out there in the world who run programs that scan websites looking to scrape personal information and email addresses. They use them to send their spam or steal identities.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that most of them are bots. I was on a week ago and there was about 462 people on and I refreshed the page and there were 65 people on now what are the chanced that 400 people would leave at the same time about 1/1000000000 chances.

Yeah, but on other forums I've seen those bots usually say where they're from, like Google.com or whatever. Idk if these forums let 'em do that.

I asked my husband about this because I keep seeing it come up in chat about the thousands of people on the forums. Basically what he said is that what you are seeing is probably one bot, he called it a spider. The spider can have thousands of nodes that literally scan every page and every post of this forum at the same time.
Spiders are suppose to search for a file called robots.txt on every site they search. they are suppose to follow the rules in that file on what they are allowed to scan. Either this forum's robot.txt file is very lax, non existent, or the spiders aren't following the rules.
