Is Shield that important?

Hey. Just reach rengol maps in game and now im suffering and burning hp pots to survive there.

Currently lv.50 but im not rich so basically my gear is legendary and so are my pets.

I dont have shield in my build. Tried to go full atk skills (fb, ts, ice, gale) but its now hard to survive as i said.

Passives and masteries are ok but my questions are:
1. Is shield that important for survivability?
2. Will shield save my pots?

Sorcerer is squishy without shield, the shield remove DOT as well .... 2 sec invulnerability save your death most times .. Sorcerer shield is better than Nekro Shield

Legendary Dusk set gives you loads of armor and damage if you plan to level up .. you can use those it is one of the best now.

yes shield is an absolute must have for mages , pve and pvp
Best skill you can have for survivablity , for upgrades use : 4/5 ( all except knockback )

Shield is pretty useful, especially because it saved me a bunch of times when I almost died D:

55% damage reduction helps you resist the attack of the bosses. When you cant escape the red zone, invulnerability definitely helps you survive from one-hit kill. the armour buff from gale is not enough at all

Other than paasive protection, you can use your shield more agressively. The first 2 second of shield makes a mage the strongest tank in this game, bcs in that 2 sec even a lvl 1 mage with crap gears is more robust than a lvl 66 warrior with nightmare set.
Most mages use shield before forwarding, which is a huge waste. When you see a huge pack of 15+mobs in maus6, mage with late-released shield is the best tank to start attacking bcs no one can scratch you even a hair. Late-release means you charge and hold your shield, walk into mobs, then release it so that the 2 sec can be used when all mobs attacking you. So, all other team members, including warriors will be safe. Isn't that cool? :)
