View Full Version : Regarding the inconsistency of shadow pierce

I just wanted to share some experiences ive had with shadow pierce in the years ive been playing this game. Albeit a great skill that I always miss when i play other classes because of how much quicker it is to move around, its efficacy in pvp, healing, etc. once in awhile it has issues and goes the wrong direction. There have been dozens of times where im leaving a ctf spawn and use pierce only to see that it shoots me in the opposite direction that im moving, back into my spawn. Not only does it sometimes go backwards, sometimes it will shoot sideways into a wall. This happens in pve too. A few days ago in Kt4 something else happened that was strange. There were 3 mobs right next to me and a boss quit a distance away that was chasing me(since i was pulling mobs for xp). I charge my shadow pierce, expecting it to kill the 3 enemies adjacent my character. However, after hitting the first enemy my character shoots backwards to hit the boss that was 5 times as far away, and instead of coming back to hit the other enemies, my character continued in the same direction for the third dash and I was shot into a wall. So, instead of killing the 3 mobs as i anticipated it only killed 1 and displaced me far from the remaining 2.
Ive noticed this issue on mobile and pc, using a keyboard or my ps3 controller. So i guess the question is, what gives? Have any of u noticed similar inconsistencies? Its not a big deal but i figured with how many times shadow pierce has done something stupid I would make a thread about it

I've exoerienced it too, but my ping is 350-400 lmao :D

My ping is usually 50-80 lol. I guess we can rule that out

Its possibly some invisible entitys outside the map or something that shadow piercer locks onto

I know what you mean, but I also know that the instant a mob reaches the end of their leash, they cease being a target for pierce or any other attack. In your case, I can certainly see a case where the three mobs are at the end of their leash, and after the first is targeted, the group resets, leaving the boss as the only accessible target.
Kind of corny when you see the mobs there, and you end up targeting something far away.
More disconcerting is the infinite aggro that barrels seem to have. Even with a mob standing next to you, it seems all skills, and your pet, would rather attack a dastardly barrel instead of the mob that is trying to open a can upon your party.
I've also seen some scenarios where, depending on what direction you are facing, aimed will hit a mob far away instead of the one standing right next to you. I suppose it is just quirks with the targeting system that we all have to deal with. Many sorcs I know complain about fireball targeting as well, but it just seems that rogues have more targeting problems than any other class.

ya idk why barrels gain such priority with rogue skills.Ive wasted so many aimed shots on barrels.

As goodsyntax said it depends what direction are you facing.
Try play with joystick casting sp. You'll see what happens.

Yah ik aimed shot definitely depends on what direction ur facing. I always pvp with a joystick cuz i use a ps3 controller but shadow pierce still goes opposite the direction im facing sometimes. Its weird lol

There was a time when sp made me stuck in the wall or border of the map and I saw pink loot or watch crates in the middle. The frustration was real lol

Indeed. Sometimes all of sudden after using SP player just stuck in position and need remap... Happened to me many times during arena when i still had my rogue lol

If u sp way too early after moving other way it will sp the way it was at start bcs the data u send to the servers arent fast enough to keep up with actual server... Pvp is all about ping, u can see europe players r overally way worse than americans because of the server location, its not about ur router

Nah its not ping. I use a wired connection so my ping is always 50-80 and sometimes when it happens im moving in a straight line for 5 seconds then use pierce and it goes the wrong way.

The only consistent thing about Shadow Piercer is that its first love is always the Barrel.
A mob is beside me, and hits the barrel in front me instead of the mob, omg SP, if you love the barrel, You guys arent a good pair :/

My comment also dissapeared it seems when you do the same thing rogues did when we brought up gale getting you stuck on a wall the devs censor it. I guess only rogues may form an opinion or give input on this forum

I wrote very long post comparing both skills and said some tricks how to use it lol
I myself have rogue and mage. Although my main is tank that doesn't mean that i don't know how work skills of other classes and how to use it...
