Devs, is there any legit explanation (not theories from the players) as to why you've jacked up the plat prices? This started to really concern me only after I saw SL's update, a Christmas event with more of these same absurd plat prices, same as PL. We appreciate all the attention you've been giving to us (especially the new Christmas event, I'm super excited for that), but what is the actual reason you made the prices so high? Myself (and I'm sure others as well) are curious as to why you did this.

EDIT: I'm also wondering if they will stay like this, my wallet is getting dusty.

Because they need money?

I love PL as much as the rest of you guys, and while I do think STS could have made a fortune through PL alone, it just doesn't make sense to invest resources in games where there are maybe 100-200 players on (at most). Go on PL and to the server menu, check the box titled "Towne". You will see that only Balefort is full, followed by Forest Haven with maybe 12-15, then all the rest completely deserted. The other handful of players are PvPing or PvEing.

On the very basic economics principle, STS can make a general assumption that among these loyal players are people who have a high willingness to pay for platinum. Why not exploit this? (Yes, 'exploit' is a greedy word in its own sense, but it would be dumb of them to not take this route.) So the players who are going to pay for these high prices will pump a reasonable amount of revenue for STS, and therefore they can give back to us and keep updating the game with the limited cash they have. As JustG, Cinco, and even our beloved and sincerely missed Samhayne have said, they too have to put dinner on their plates for their families.

And I'm absolutely NOT trying to articulate that the devs are on the verge of a financial crisis. I'm just saying they're a business too. And I think they've done an exceptional job attending to their own needs as well as showing care and love to the community that we are all a part of through PL; a balance that many companies in the mobile gaming world fail to demonstrate (why do you think we've loved STG all this time?)

(not theories from the players.)

Remember, I also made this to see if it was going to end. STS hasn't really given an explanation themselves for this change.

Why post a thread on a community forum and not expect replies from people then?
You could just PM the devs if you REALLY want a reply just from them, but you don't and just wanna make yourself look like " Oh the I care about this online game and don't want the prices to go up because I really care "

I expected it, but it's all the same thing. I also stated (twice) that this was also because I wanted to know when it would end.

The, "incredibly high prices," have nothing to do with financial crisis of STS and neither it is limited time. According to Justg and Cinco, plat prices of items were initially dramatically low. Therefore, to balance an item's worth with its plat value, they increased these prices.
I already PMed Justg about this weeks ago, and this is the response I was given. Hope it clears some questions up.

Incredibly low prices for 5 and a half years? 75 plat for a ring is absurd! 30 or so yes fair enough, but not 75

'The specific reason is that things were dramatically underpriced.'-Justg
Yes the prices are absurd but I'm guessing they want people to buy more plat so they can continuously update the game.
