They have always been on my mind. Are they a bad thing? I remember having 0, now I have 2. So, is referral on your avatar page used positively or negatively? If negatively, then I must have been a really really naughty boy. :(

I think. When you first create your forum account, they ask if anyone referred them (told them about this place) to the forums. If they wrote down your name, it just means "hey, this guy told me about forums, and now I'm here :)". I'd say its a good thing!

I would think by standard usage of referral it would be a good thing.
Edit: yes I just looked... I have 2 as well... I am willing to bet that as stated previously it is a counter on who filled in your name as who sent you to this wonderful vault of knowledge, friendship, family, and all around good fun times and people from across the world!

Referrals are a good thing as sort-of stated above. If you told someone to go make a forums account, they get asked who Referred them to the forums.

Referrals are a good thing it means that someone you told about the forums remembered you by name, basically you had a impact on them. Telling someone about the forums is one thing, that player has to decide to join the forums, then they have to remember the ign who told them about it, finally that ign needs to be the same as the forum id (not sure about that last step). Also I think this can only be done upon initial registration, meaning if they remember after the fact it cannot be repeated. So if that is indeed what the referrals are about then they're pretty good thing to have; you must be thinking of a referral to the principal's/dean's office and I doubt that this is anything like that.
