This post is a follow-up to my previous rule of thumb post...

Rule of Thumb: Comparing Legends to Trash (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?38112-Rule-of-Thumb-Comparing-Legends-to-Trash&highlight=thumb)

As a recap, the game scales armor based on rarity. A rare green piece of armor only gives 80% of the armor of an equally leveled pink legendary piece of armor.

Legendary 100%
Epic 90%
Rare 80%
Uncommon 70%
Common 60%
Trash 50%

Using this data and the data from my item compendium, I was able to look at how much armor you would have at a given level.

NOTE: This does not include shields or implants. This also DOES include helms and back armor.

RULE OF THUMB

If everyone wore Legendary items...

* Commandos get 100 armor points every 5 levels.
* Engineers get 75 armor points every 5 levels.
* Operatives get 60 armor points every 5 levels.

If everyone wore Epic items...

* Commandos get 90 armor points every 5 levels.
* Engineers get 67.5 armor points every 5 levels.
* Operatives get 55 armor points every 5 levels.

If everyone wore Rare items...

* Commandos get 80 armor points every 5 levels.
* Engineers get 60 armor points every 5 levels.
* Operatives get 47.5 armor points every 5 levels.

If everyone wore Uncommon items...

* Commandos get 70 armor points every 5 levels.
* Engineers get 52.5 armor points every 5 levels.
* Operatives get 42 armor points every 5 levels.

ANALYSIS

How is this useful? One use is that it can be used to gauge how effective a skill is with respect to normal armor growth.

Commandos using a maxed out Increase Mass skill get +300 armor. This means that it puts their armor up 15 legendary levels, ~17 epic levels, and ~19 rare levels.

Engineers using Protection boost the armor value of the group by 60, which ranges from ~8 levels for an Operative in Uncommon gear to 4 levels for a Commando in Legendary gear.

IBN,

Maybe included in your txt this applyable only from lvl20 since we have helm/pack available with the armor, boots, arms.

Also numbers r a bit off for operative.
(not counting the lvl5 with green premium starter 32def, no helm/pack)

Lvl20 green 195def (gallowtech helm/pack/boots and lvl 20 goo soaked sleeves)
should be 47,5x4=190def ? 5 difference here under.
If we use the gallowtech sleeves lvl19 -2def so 193def.

Lvl25 green 239def (desert rat set)
should be 47,5x5=237,5def? 1,5 difference under.

Lvl30 purp 327def
Should be 55x6=330def? 3 difference over.

Dexterity full for my lvl30 op, the def numbers I wrote above have included the dex def bonus. Even if I substract it still not close.
1str/5dex/3int, lvl1 ->1 def
1str/45dex/3int, lvl9 -> 2 def
1str/145dex/3int, lvl29-> 3 def

I mentioned that.

Level 20 greens give 190 armor. 22+22+38+38+70 = 190

Lvl25 green 239def (desert rat set)
should be 47,5x5=237,5def? 1,5 difference under.

The desert rat set is not a true level 25 green set. Only 3 of the 5 pieces are lv25. The platinum set isn't a true lv25 set either. If you want to make them into lv25 sets, you can use linear regression to figure out the actual values.

I based my data off lv 10/20/30 equipment to avoid having to do this.

Lvl30 purp 327def
Should be 55x6=330def? 3 difference over.

Level 30 purples give 320 armor. I'm off by 1 point per level there, but that can be attributed to a rounding error.

Would you mind double-checking my Item Compendium (see link in sig) to make sure the armor values I list are correct?
