I am probably going to get one :) yes because I can an guess what ... if the devs later decides to dicontinue the crown and add stats to it for the 10 players that bought it then its probably going to be the same people that complain they didn't get it that are complaining about the price now....lol

Don't forget not everyone who plays this game depends on their parents for plat :) and I for one am happy to purchase an item I know will not be worn by everybody ho plays in a few days .....

I would blow 1000 platinum on an item that would actually be useful, but I'll pass on this... Even though it looks cool, it actually is a downgrade.

Why would anyone use it over Big Luck or Crown of Persistence? That's basically asking players to pay to give up a benefit.

Love options to spend plat, and I've supported STS with hundreds, but nothing like this will get me to part with any. 50 plat is my limit for an item that has no tangible benefit is my limit.

Sam, I do think offering items for 500-1000 plat is realistic though for creating additional revenue for STS. However, keeping the most basic rule of sales in mind would be a smart way to venture into item creation for plat.

Consumers purchase products or services for one reason... because of the perceived benefit of doing so. For a casual player like me, I buy elixirs and level 60 recipes because they save me time. I bought Big Luck because it improves my chances at getting drops.

If you really want high priced items to create significant revenue for STS, you should really take that to heart. One idea that I think would create significantly increased plat sales would be scaling rings.

Since the rings currently stop at level 20, there could be one more category that costs 500 plat or more. These rings could level with you and increase their stats based on level. A good way to implement this would be with items that give a percentage increase instead of a numerical increase.

Since people on the forums represent only a very minor percentage of the actual player base, I am quite sure that a lot of people who play the game but aren't on the forums, would be willing to buy it.

Truth is, a lot of people on the forums have items like founders helm or crown of persistence. Which ultimately gives an advantage. Lots who play casually would love the opportunity to buy the items they are unable to get because of jobs and real life obligations.

I for one think that this casual player base is where the real money is for STS and improving overall game balance in the future. Just look at the success of nintendo wii and kinect. Appeal to the casuals when others focus on the hardcore. Angry Birds does, granted it is much less complex and cheap. But if they wanted to, they could get revenue from that player base with add on sales. Beat them to it!

Sorry i didnt realize i had to be so specific with every thing i post... i dont earn plat i buy it however last time i checked the offers, the free plat i could have earned was over 100 so ya it would take time but Sam stated this item is not for a limited time. And i didnt say you can get the crown for free i said plat. So some one who has 350 plat for example. Can earn the remaining plat required for the purchase. Why not be happy and thankful ppl who cant afford can earn free was the point i was trying to make

So here's the thing: to me, the absurd price of this thing affects how it "looks," and will make anyone I eventually see in-game wearing one look like a tool in my eyes. Much in the same way, for instance, when I used to see pictures of Lil Jon strutting around with his gold diamond-studded chalice.

I'm not saying this to troll. Just speaking the truth of how I personally perceive it, for anyone who might be considering buying one. It's unique, but not in a cool way. More in the way that says "I have so much money that I can spend ridiculous amounts on silly things, and I want to flaunt it in your face," which is only cool to other rich people. I understand that STS needs money but in a recession they are finding ways to be successful and I would have thought the increased use of platinum elixirs was more than enough to fuel the server cost, new mods/devs and a new game on the horizon, but apparently vanity helms need to increase their sales tenfold so the new plan is to accomplish that in one fell swoop.

Sure it's probably the best vanity item that I've seen to date, but it's an elite vanity set breaker, has no stats (until I see otherwise) and is basically in the game for the bling factor. I don't look down on anyone for the purchase, but I cannot help but admit that a small part of me begs to ask the question why?! Why pay $22.50+ for something that you probably won't wear when outside of town, why wear something that doesn't boost your status but helps you go down in infamy, why support this move by STS that will surely only lead to more and more price gouging?! Remember where the Hardlight shield fiasco got us, it lead to another (Crimson) Hardlight for equal price minus the bonus of reservation of your coveted ign... Remember where deal of the day (blast from the past) voting got us, it got us the most wanted item's price not only doubled but tripled. STS is going to find ways to make money, and if players keep feeding them whenever they made a ridiculous demand on our money then there is no end in sight.

/rage nice point. I agree that this is way to big of an increase for a vanity. Maybe 100 plat or even 200? They have to come up with a more creative way to make plat, that also might not even be noticed by us players as a revenue for money. 500 is a lot to ask for something that has no usefulness whatsoever. That's why they have those kinds for 15 plat....and they actually have a use. They should have either made it have a good bonus to make us want to buy it or lowered the price to goad us into buying it. It's too hard to convince me to pay 500, but I would easily pay say, 75 for a pretty cool looking hat.

Try coming to my place of business and expecting something free... or worst yet come to my place of business and ask for higher quality products at the same reduced price of the generic no name brands....lol! 1. It was a joke comparing two things that have recently increased substantially in price. I'm fine running with my sewer gear and don't buy what I don't deem worth the gold. If I get a glyph xbox bow sure I wouldn't complain, but I'd sell immediately.
2. Yes, the price change is due to how new the items are, but thank you for assuring me that the prices are indeed correct.
3. Hardlight and name reg was 50 plat (same as crimson).
4. Increasing the profits is STS' job, I just want players to resist a bit or it may bite them in the end and all upcoming vanity may increase to meet demand.

We already have problem in major MMO's with kid's stealing their parent's credit cards for the must have premium items. This outrageous pricing is only going to give them further incentive.

I see this as a tool to gauge the market. Sometimes I feel like people forget that STS is a gaming development company, meaning a business. Like any business, they gotta pay the bills so we all can enjoy the lush new content they release to us almost daily. Getting upset at any company for releasing a new product is silly IMO. Buying vanity items such as this will encourage more of these items to be made available in the future, so support it or don't. For the cost of it there should be some sort of stats included with it. It kinda reminds me of that armor in SG1 used by the aliens. As cool as it may be to own this vanity, I will withhold purchasing it and save my plat for the epic release of DL.

If you think it's outrageous and that it's not worth it, that's your right. Simple solution, don't buy it.

If you like it, see it as a way to support the devs and have the plat for it, buy it.

I just think some are way overreacting IMO. It's not like it makes your char better or anything (no stats). And nobody HAS to buy it in order to play the game. Yes. I wish I could use it on Star Legends, on more useful things... But because of Apple, that will never happen. It's not about the price with me, it's about the principle. If STS sells 100 of these is that going to be the number that defines "very few" that they were shooting for to make the item unique; if not this will snowball into another item that is more expensive in order to accommodate the number they had in mind. At the very least we can assume that there will be a shield counterpart... I just wonder when will it end. If you look earlier in the thread, Sam has commented on this, although not in great detail, only to confirm the price and say that they wanted to make a very unique item. What else do you expect them to say?

I don't see what the big deal is. Even though I would never buy such an absurdly expensive thing even if I had 30k plat to burn, I couldn't care less about what STS charges for vanity items that absolutely no effect on gameplay. That being said, when I see anyone wearing this thing in-game, I will LOL heartily at your expense for spending so much money on the Honda Element of vanities.

I bought campaigns when they costed money, and enjoyed gold elixirs, then they make campaigns free and elixirs plat. I bought once thought "exclusive" event items for plat, then they release them MULTIPLE times after it's initial release for twice, and even thrice the previous price! Now the put this vanity out for a ridiculous price! They must be laughing everytime someone buys one of these! As if we don't support them enough, we have made this game arguably the most successful mobile MMORPG of all time. For the first time since April 2010, I don't feel like buying plat and supporting the devs.

Exactly. I can't believe ppl don't get this point. It's not the 500plat crown itself we are hating for,it's the motivation behind it. I'm surprised to see so many lvl61 still keep using plat elixir 24/7 so we can make a conclusion that ppl are willing to spend plat. So STS make this crown as crazy price just to see how the consumer market reaction is. If some ppl are still willing to spend on this crown, then they will make their next step making more expensive stuff like this.
It's a market strategy move and it's a big move that will probably lead PL to some direction that we are afraid to see. And that is why I myself and some other ppl are angry about this crown.
And to those ppl keep saying that STS needs money to keep PL as a free game, u simply know nothing about mmorpg industry. Those so called free game(no monthly fee)make loads of money compare to those one charge monthly fee. Actually almost every single new mmorpg these days are free game. But u actually end up spend more money from your pocket.
So pls stop saying STS needs money blah blah blah, they made tons of money from plat Elixer. Fact of th matter is, as others have said before, it's merely a test to gauge the response to the price. If it's successful, expect to see more stuff at that price range. If it's not successful, expect STS to try something else to boost plat sales.

I was originally thinking of buying that Big Luck helm for 75 plat (Which I think is pricey considering just how little it affects re-rolls fir farmers) but I decided against it.

Well, what other changes do we know of yet besides Mt. Fang which is going to be free? :D In a lot of ways, change can be a good thing. Who knows, like someone said above, STS may be doing this as a trial run to see how people react. This might, in turn, force them to rethink the pricing and put up a cool vanity that everyone may be able to afford. We just don't know, but isn't it cool to not know everything? Aren't new vanities surprising and cool at the same time? No matter the price? Extra options, right? I understand though, you play a game for a while and get used to a certain thing only to have something different thrown in your face. I only say expect change so that you're aware that it can happen and most likely will. That way you're prepared for when it does happen. :)

We also have to understand that we as forum members are a small portion of the people who play this game. There's a lot of people's opinion we haven't heard and they could be great opinions. It seems to me that STS really listens to people and they take everyone's opinion into consideration when making certain moves. For that I think we should be thankful instead of ungrateful for such items (not saying any of you are ungrateful!), you know? I see why they may have priced this helm the way they did, not saying that I totally agree and that I would spend the platinum on it, but I try to run through all possible scenarios before I make a judgement on certain things. My opinion, I think the helm looks cool and will end up being a super-unique item that only a few players possess. That makes it worth the platinum in some people's eyes because they will stand out from the crowd.

Edit: And this discussion is very valid and informative. It gives a good look at how people view such changes. Probably why it's lasted to so long. :) I'm quite sure the moderators and developers are watching. Don't worry, there will be more content coming. Remember Sam said that there's an "aggressive" calendar of content to be released in both PL and SL in the coming future.

I payed 20 plat for AO3 when it came out, (all other campaigns were 5, and there was no free plat). And I'd hapily pay 50 plat today. Without a doubt the helm looks cool, but it's 500 plat and only adds 1 armor (like the regular vanity) and looks aren't everything. Maybe they could add... idk run 20% faster in PVE, + 10 dmg in PVE, more luck or whatever, but something to make it worth the massive 500 plat that is being charged for it. If it actually does something like what was listed above, I'm sure it will be less frowned upon. Where as now (as I've heard) It's just sort of a token saying "Hey! I can afford paying $30 for a vanity", because it simply doesn't do anything.

It's like complaining about Chanel bags because they raise price every year. Now, the bags are more like 5000 dollars.
Business is business. It works along the principles of economy. More demands are followed by the higher price. If you don't buy, the price will drop.
STS could make more money by setting the price to 50 platinum; by that way, they could sell more with more buyers. I believe that STS set it for 500 plat for a symbolic purpose and remove the complaints about the COP. If it is too expensive, just don't buy it. If you really want it, buy it.

Pocket legends should think of chargeing 50 million gold for people who want custom armor designs ....it would be awesome .. lol ... i bought the helmet .. just so i could look diffrent than the 400 other bears running around with pink glyph strongman armor ... so i welcome as many of thease things as i can get so i can depart from the herd. or let us design our own sheild for our GUILD ???? name a price. its worth it ... the game is amazeing ..and if you havent yet ... buy a samsung TAB 10.1 ...its amazeing for pocket legends.
