Mishi passive aura not showing

Mishi passive aura won't show on any maps except the ones for story tokens??
Even in gy, I'll go in and just stand there getting hurt and using a few spells, mishi is attacking but no aura is coming up

He's not high enough level to do damage to start the aura. Gotta be at least level 17+ to proc it.
