This is most likely the last week of Alpha. Can you please take a few moments and give us your feedback on the latest build?

Specifically looking for progression, but we'll take anything.

Thanks!

Good morning! I think the progression feels a lot smoother this time around. I'm only at tier 5 but I didn't hit the wall of frustration like last build. Shard drop is improved. Tier 3, map one is still vexing me though, it feels harder than any other in that tier. Not sure what my hang up is with it. But it's still 2 starred at tier 5.

Morning all! So for me so far this is the best build we've had. Chat is much better. As well as the equipment boxes are in a good state.

As far as progression goes there's a couple of maps in the t5 and t6 area I found extremely difficult, even with a full set of legendary a tier above it took quite a few runs to finally get the 3 stars. To the point of spending around 200 keys to upgrade spells and my pet to finally get it down. Going to make the push to t9 tonight if I can in the hopes of trying the new raid boss. Will post feedback on it asap.

Also I'd like to add I find the daily plat training shard Chest kind of stingy for the amount of plat it costs after only a couple of openings. 1 shard for that much plat definitely doesn't feel worth spending my plat on.

I reached t12 Sunday night. I start f2p, using only the plat you receive from chests or quests. Mainly on timers. Made it to t4 in about an hour. Then got slowed down a little, nothing patience wouldn’t take care of. Since I have none of that I got the 14,000 plat pack. Bought 3m gold, keys-75 I think (lower lvls dropping shards is still rare), legendary chest with discount after lvling up, and timers.

T10 maps seemed the hardest for me (still only have 2 stars each map)

T11 maps I was very slow, no time bonus. But managed to get 3 stars on every map.

T12 I haven’t started yet.

Everything was smooth. I do think the joystick needs to be larger. I move just from tilting my finger instead of actually moving it.

Training- t2 for weapons dmg. T1 for all the resistance stuff so I could get to the 20 upgrades required weapons upgrades. And t1 for all of those.

Spells- I’m on the second lvl 10 upgrades required. 1 charge, 2 ice storm, 1 lightning.
I don’t remember the exact numbers. But when I upgrade ice storm and it shows say 600 + 600 I figured that makes 1,200 dmg. ( physical dmg) it ended up being 600 + 90 I think. So the upgrade dmg could be mor clear. Also adding cool down times would be nice.

Pets- Jill 3, Boris 4. Unlocking the next lvl of pets doesn’t seem necessary to me. Although I haven’t really tried then to find out if they are worth it.

Talents- I have the first 4 at t1. Only from the shards from maps or free chests. They seem almost pointless to me.

Jewels- can make a huge difference. I try to save them till I’m stuck on a lvl. Also I try to stack the same kinds when I set them. Like crit, dodge , or flanking.

I am confused about what a 20 crit/dodge/block rating does. I think it does nothing if I have %0 crit chance correct?

Think that’s about all I have for now. Any questions please ask!

Sorry for the delayed feedback.

I started this build as f2p, with the free plat I bought some gold, at T2, the T2 legendary chest. It took me a while to get all three stars on T3 (this is where I went p2p). I know we don't need all three stars to pass to T4, however if we cannot pass enough stars and T4, we cannot unlock T5, to get better gear to help pass three stars on other dungeons.

With that being said, I feel if this is my first game to play, I would be discouraged at the end of T3. That dungeon is insane to beat, if you don't have plat to spam open the legendary chest, I feel player would be extremely bored running T1&2 repeatedly, for gold, spell shards, and pet tokens. (Maybe I am missing a key factor?)

My thoughts are, being the T2 legendary chest is a "have to buy", the gear should be strong enough to help f2p players advance through to T4. Or reduce the difficulty, and bump the "have to buy legendary chest" at T3.

The graphics are fun, sound effects are entertaining, and the music is good. The gauntlet is very fun, and find this problematic (in a good way) due to addicting reasons, lol. I still find Jill & Boris my favs for pets. I have not spent much time in the vanity vendor, or at the magic mirror, so I cannot comment properly in those areas.

I commented yesterday on the ring & amulet:

Could a symbol for the resistance type be added to the jewelry? When swapping jewelery, and or salvaging, it takes a lot of time going back and forth, making sure we don't equip, or salvage wrong item (:

I hope to play the demonic altar & wood-fired friends, this week (:

I will play more later tonight, and if needed, will post more feedback.

Thank you again for this amazing opportunity (:

****thnks Dal, you saved me some typing time, if ya don't mind, I'd like to echo your two below posts****

I played a little on Friday evening, had the weekend off, and then have played for a few hours tonight (Monday.) I easily managed T 1-3 on Friday evening without much effort, and T4-5 this evening with slightly more patience required.

I have played using no plat. Not even the free plat supplied with the game. I have managed to unlocked the following:

SPELLS:
Fireball 2
Bolt 2
Stomp 2
Heal 2

TRAINING:
Mage weapon: 1
Light armour: 1
Light helmet: 1
Light underwear: 1

TALENTS:
Heartiness 1
Weapon Affinity 1

PETS:
Jill: 1
Boris: 1
Sam: 1

JEWELS:
Lol
None slotted (due to cost).

Cost for me to upgrade any spell to level 3: 10,000
Cost for me to upgrade any training to level 2: 5,000
Cost to me to upgrade any talent to level 2: 15,000
Cost for me to upgrade any pet to level 2: 15,000

Cost for me to add 1 jewel to and item: 3000-5000
Cost for me to jewel all my items with 1-2 jewels: nearly 30,000

My total gold at this point after grinding for a while in tier 4/5, liquidating every spare item along the way, and using some on the upgrades I’ve already mentioned:
9,000

I have upgraded everything fairly evenly for three reasons:
1. I feel this is what a person would naturally feel inclined to do.
2. I have reached times so far where I needed a little bit of an extra push to get to the next level and have chosen to spend small amounts of gold on several level 1 upgrades rather than all of my gold on one upgrade.
3. I would like to unlock the next levels of spells and the most economic way to do this is to upgrade all of the starter spells
evenly.

At this point on the game I am struggling to get complete the Tier 4 levels to 3 stars with the gear I have dropped, and have completed the Tier 5 dungeons with 1 star each only. All of my gear is 4/5 except my tier 3 “rare” underwear.

If I make 1000 more gold I can use it to upgrade ONE spell to level 3 at which point I will be starting from 0 to grind quite a lot of gold to keep building my stats at a satisfactory pace.

Luckily, I knew this would happen and haven’t wasted my starter plat on timers/chests, as I knew I would need it for gold... so I have bought 30,000 gold with plat and will keep buying gold no doubt.

My concern here is that if a player joins the game for the first time intending to play as free to play, without the experience of multiple iterations of gameplay, they will not be privy to this knowledge. They will spend their free plat, then hit his wall, and quite possibly drop off, since there is no starting over :/

I don’t think the answer to this should be that I’ve played wrong eg - “you shouldn’t have upgraded talents yet, or you should only have upgraded one spell, etc”. If the game has to be played in such a certain specific way to be able to keep progressing then this needs to be made a whole lot clearer at the start.

Item classification is often confusing, especially as when tiering up as F2P I certainly don’t have the gold to put gems in my gear! I feel like items from a higher rarity should always be even marginally better than items from the rarity below so when I loot a rare it should be an upgrade from an uncommon of the same type/tier.

An example:

Neither the level 4 nor the level 5 rare item is better than this level 4 uncommon hood. I haven’t done anything to it in terms of reforging the items are as they dropped. When I put on either blue item it marks this green item as the upgrade.

This is confusing in terms of what I am aiming for here. I have been aiming for all rare gear of my current tier but if an uncommon from the tier below is better... it just get confusing as to what I need to acquire.

They’re both light helmets, stats are pretty much identical, and I am aware that the rare is “better” because I could pay gold to put gems in it (if I could afford the extortionate jeweller prices... which I can’t xD) but I still feel it’s counter intuitive for greens to be beating all the purples I drop quite regularly :/

There is a similar example below of armour, and this happens at every tier I’ve been too including when I went up to a higher tier before this version.

I took a look at this today, as I was also having problems with it (And I made it!)

Next update has an improvement to the creature and breakables locations to create a more fluid flow through the level that hopefully results in better time through world building

We totally agree!

Looking over your proficiencies, I would say that your weapon training is too low. If you were to take a Weapon of a Tier and the Proficiency for that Tier, the Proficiency accounts for 60% of the expected weapon damage of that Tier. So if you're using a Tier 4 Staff with only a Tier 1 proficiency, you're missing a ton of damage!

This is something we're seeing often, players aren't putting time and focus into Training which is one of the more important upgrades. What has led you all to focus on other aspects instead of your weapon training? This is definitely something we need to bring more focus to!

Looking at these items, what is causing what you see is the Enhancements.

You've rolled 2 amazing enhancements on your Uncommon Items. Physical Resistance and Health are the 2 most important defensive stats in the game, and these Enhancements are making your Uncommon items surpass your Rare items. Is there something we could do to better display "Your enhancements are amazing"?

I will try to explain why I feel this happens:

The game offers me the opportunity to play with a wealth of different gear/weapons. I don’t want to waste precious gold focusing on specialisation in the first 4/5 tiers (especially not weapons) because simply put I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket. Since the amount of gold I make still has to cover everything, I’d have to sacrifice something I KNOW I want (such as spells and pets) for something I haven’t really decided on yet (Class). So I go for those things I want, thinking I’ll save training for when I know what I want to be at end game.

The whole thing is very counter intuitive. You pick your “look” but can play with any weapon and any gear and therefore aren’t restricted to one particular class... which is great and you can experiment with play style. For three tiers (an evening of gameplay). Because after this you’re going to begin to struggle unless you pick a class. I thought the game was classless... sort of... but it’s not. The whole thing is just unclear.

Instead of having me pick a character and giving players the freedom to pick/be anything at any time, and then having them sort of be required to pick a class anyway, if they read between the lines, how about this:

Why not just decrease the importance (numbers wise) of training in tiers 1-5 maybe even remove it or have it “locked” until this point. When we reach tier 5, have a cut scene (similar to the legendary plat chest one) with some instructions such as:

“You are now ready to start specialising.”

>> guides me to click on “training”

“To get you started let me give you some basic training for free...”

“What kind of fighter is your legend?”

>> Warrior (image)
>> Ninja (image)
>> Lorekeeper (image)
>> Archer (image)
>> Enchantress (image)

“Great - Then let’s begin by unlocking basic ENCHANTRESS training for you.”

>> Enchantress weapon, and light helmet/armour/underwear all increase to tier 1 (effectively a tier 0 with minimal stat effect... it’s just to lay a route really.)

“Your power with Enchantress weapons and light gear has increased! You can choose to continue your training as an Enchantress or test out other training...”

“Regardless you will want to make sure you focus on your training from now on, in order to increase your power and progress.”

The reason I say tier 5 is because that for me was what felt like enough gameplay to enjoy the various weapon types and have dropped and had a go with a few different types, and would feel like if I was asked at that point to indicate a preference, I could. (Except lorekeeper weapons... I never drop those and the ones I drop are always a downgrade from whatever I’m using).

Which leads to another point- I actually want to train for lorekeeper items... but since I never seem to drop them again I don’t want to waste gold on the risk I’ll drop more later in the game. So again... I just wait it out until I can properly ascertain the frequency and strength of the gear types.

Physical Resistance and Health are the 2 most important defensive stats in the game, and these Enhancements are making your Uncommon items surpass your Rare items. Maybe....

1. If an item gains a rare or powerful enhancement, put a sort of golden glow around the item in the inventory screen so you can see that this item is distinguished from other items of its colour.

Or

2. Give the very best enhancements a visual difference - divide enhancement into 3 categories eg bronze, silver, and gold, and place this classification next to the enhancement in the form of each a small medallion of the right colour. This would mean when we compare items we can see this is a rare item but it’s enhancement is bronze vs this uncommon with a gold enhancement.

Or

3. Have items roll initial stats from a pool of enhancements fitting to their rarity. To me this scenario of dropping an uncommon item which is better than a rare item should not happen- the uncommon items should have uncommon enhancements. Take the two helmets I posted...

If the green helmet had an enhancement of +15health this would boost it (an uncommon t4) to ALMOST but not quite as good as the rare T5. This would be inline with my expectations and would make it an amazing green to wear.... I mean even if the stat was +17 health giving both helmets the same health value... It would just sit better within, and simplify, the system.

When I drop a less powerful blue item I till want to wear it over the green item. I do feel that the better rarity should be inherently better.

I know itís late but here are a few comments.

1 - Like others said tier 3 map are difficult. I noticed that maps are harder with spell shards. Is this intentional?

2 - I know we all love fluffy, but I think he needs a diet :). His size is very frustrating.

3- I really liked it when we started a new tier and the shop would auto pop up with the chest sales. Can we bring this back? Or allow for an option to turn on for p2p players? Never want to miss a sale :D

4- Iím gonna assume it was just me and my build but I couldnít even complete 6.1. I was gonna have to farm for upgrades.

What level was all your spells/talents/pet? They have it set so you want to have 6 on everything as you enter t6 of you are underpowered. So if you went in with t3 stuff it's basically gg

They were lower. I was playing somewhat reserved on plat spending. I think having everything on 6 for a F2P player is gonna be a long road.

Yeah the idea of the game from what I gather is to be fairly long for the freebies. While we rushed to the high tiers in a couple of days with unlimited plat, in reality it will take us much MUCH longer upon release. Having go to back and grind out the old levels constantly for shards. And I never thought I'd say this but thank **** for the auto play lol.

Maybe! Look outside your window.

I understand they donít want people rushing to the end and then getting bored. Itís a delicate balance.

We will see how it all works out this weekend, when I think we all become F2P.

Donít make me get the hose again ;p

Loving this build, everything feels a lot more refined. Few small bits of information that would be nice to have: spell ranges (I.e, radius of stomp, etc), and spell cooldown times.

Big long post I'm not gonna quote the whole thing
- Vroom

Thanks for the great analysis Dalmony and we agree. Something you'll notice in the next build which we hope will address this issue is a greatly reduced gold cost for Weapon Training in early tiers, normalizing at Tier 6. This will hopefully make it more attractive to experiment with weapons early on and get that missing damage, while bringing you closer to commitment to your main weapon as you progress further into the game.
