There are many things that are not appriciated on forums such as...

Trolling

Definitions provided by Nologicone

Trolling - Instigating or starting unnecessary debates. Mostly linked with controversial issues where there is no right or wrong on both ends, but very wrong from the purist's camp.

-This is a senseless way to waste precious minutes of your life.

-It will NOT help you solve any problems with you, your, friends, or the devs.

-Trolling = BANHAMMER

Flaming

Flaming - Basically unnecessary negative remarks. Mostly without factual base to back up negative remarks. Well, sometimes there are facts, but it's ok to keep the comment to oneself if it is a very obvious trolling thread, like "Selling L60 Glyph Obedience Armour for 2.5Mil". Freedom of speech need not be taken to the next level, especially behind the comfort of internet communications.

-Flaming is probably the worst way to solve and problem and on most occasions does not work.

-Flaming also = BANHAMMER

-Flaming is not very constructive, constructive feedback will better you and the community.

-Flaming usually gets someones thread locked or removed and I'm positive that person will not appriciate you for that.

NecroPosting

Necro Posting - Basically finding year old thread and reviving them by making a meaningless post to trick people into thinking its new.

-Necro posting is just as annoying as trolling.

-Necro posting is against STS rules and that means....BANHAMMER

-Necro posting is also a poor way to get post or views and is usually frowned upon.

Using inappropriate language

-The Developers want to keep this forums a fun and clean place for players to chat and communicate out of the game.

-Respect this or you guessed it BANNED

What you should do

-If theres a problem you constructive feedback, its the best way to help you and your friend in any situation.

-Dont feed the troll, if anyone trolls or necro post just laugh and move on. Trolls expect a reaction and simply just need to find something better to do with their time.

This is just a refresher because I've noticed this has been a problem lately on the forums and I just wanted to remind you of the envirolment the developers work hard to create.

If it is for beginners, maybe the terms Trolling, Flaming, NecroPosting should be explained what they means. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Necroposting is bringing a dead post back. Ie commenting on a post a few months old long after it has disappeared from front page, bringing back to be talked about. Like commenting on veterans helm thread again. I need to stop, I'm rambling

Welcome and many thanks at the same time!

Yeah, I have frens around my age group (30ish) asked me what's trolling before, and myself is new to the term Necroposting. I have frens playing PL as their first MMORPG too!

Ah, Necroposting probably links to Necromancy, the dark magic of dealing with the dead/undead. Pretty cool!!!

I honestly think that people are doing it just to spite us forumers who follow the rules about posting. Either this or honest to goodness the intelligence level of the posters on this forum has dropped dramatically within the past month since EVERYONE is making the SAME. EXACT. MISTAKE...

As you can tell, i'm a bit... irked about this rash of necro posters to say the least...

The necro thing is kind of a double-edged sword. People hate it when someone necro-posts, but people also complain when someone creates a new thread for something that has been talked about before. It's a no-win sometimes, lol.

I think it's acceptable when someone necros if and only if they have something constructive to add to the conversation. I think it's better for people to learn to use the search function than defaulting to starting new threads about every little thing. Just my opinion.

Yes I was wondering the same thing. So which is the lesser of two evils?

I suppose necroing suggestions isn't too bad, if someone really wants to see them implemented. Most necros are with threads that are outdated and not relevant, so that's annoying. Necroing announcements is also misleading and frowned upon more than necroing a "fun thread" (example: awkward moments in pl)
