Think it would look way too weird but that's just me. I think it's fine having them being no gender :)

An idea popped up in my head!,
We could give mages/smurfs the same mechanic Hair & Facial hair face swapping mechanic like the rogues & warriors beauty salon vendors.
Like for example, mages could get one of these facial features to identify as a female & male without having to make an entirely new system with different character models.

Just incase you didn't know how a human mage looked like at all, here you go. And Yes. Alot of mmos have all toons as humans and even other mythical races with characteristics of a human.
