View Full Version : My thoughts

Starting the game this morning, I didn't really have much information in my head on what the game was about. I was still on a forum hiatus so i didn't really research the game before playing. At first glance, i thought the name was a little gimmicky, as i was combining my idea of the movie Full Metal Jacket with one of the many many many different casino and slots games that currently pollute the play store, but once i opened the game, i was gloriously surprised at what STS created.

First and foremost, this game's structure reminds me a lot of a game called Arrow.io, which happens to be one of my favorite time-killing mobile games of all time. The idea of spawning in figuratively naked, collecting cash, upgrading, and killing along the way has it's own addictive way of keeping us pulled in. I don't see this kind of game as a smash hit that people will be playing for longer periods of time, but it's obviously not the general focus, since that goal is accomplished through STS's Legends franchise. I see this game as a quick pick up time-killer that offers moments of satisfaction, that at the same time rewards its players with different avatars, vanities, and cool unlockable emotes that push what i believe to be STS's greatest strength- socialization. I can see myself picking up this game quite often nonetheless, play a few matches, and then go about my day and later on jump back on and do it again. It has replayability.

I don't have many negative things to say about FMJ, although i do wish the matches weren't completely infinite. For example, I liked how Arrow.io had a mode organized as a one-death deathmatch, which kept groups of people from camping in the match at max-level one-hit killing everyone that came in for a half an hour straight. And yes, that's my main experience tonight with this game, but I'm sure it'll be fixed when the seemingly incompetent AI gets replaced by more living people after the Beta begins.

I would love to see different modes added to the game. Keep the infinite mode the way it is, but add a deathmatch mode where everyone spawns in at level 1. And a team vs team deathmatch would also be pretty fun.

Also, the game could use a bit more of a tutorial. It took me a while to realize what the main point of the match is and what the escape pod was for.

Yes...it could use a tutorial! I didn't know what I was doing at first..I had to watch a YouTube video about it. Some of the skills, I don't know the meaning and also a team death match mode would be fun..I also wish the game would end and it won't continue for eternity

I didn't know how to shoot at first until someone told me you had to hold the right joystick in the direction you are aiming at.
