Do you need speed set for farming esg as a mage?

As the title says do you need speed set for farming esg as a mage? Also is 120 gold loot good enough for starters?

Not gonna lie, it helps a lot, but you can do without as long as you use gale correctly. Getting stunned was my biggest problem at first so gale mastery was more essential to counter. Getting the dash upgrade on gale can help also, however it can be buggy at times.
So whenever the pt decides it's gonna run past some mobs that's when u want to use gale (&/or shield). Pets like nekro and cottonkill will help via their shield AA.
The last two upgrades on shield help also, 3rd one removes stun & other effects, the 4th gives 2 second invulnerable.

Also all gold loot helps, but never seems to be as much as you'd like lol

When i play Esg i better use Gale(4/5),Fire (5/5),Clock (5/5),and Shield (4/5) with ult energizer and 10/10 gale masteries,10/10 shield masteries

it can be done with only gale, stun and shield timing but it is safer to use speed set since gale has this annoying feature about dashing sideways or backwards, not sure if its designed to auto aim or its a bug.
