View Full Version : Automation countermeasure for event tiered gold farming maps

Who would be opposed to this idea that would basically stop gold farming bots in their tracks?

Only during the reward phase of events that include a gold farming component. Before entering a *gold farming event map of any tier* (no other maps would be included), a randomly generated two digit alpha numeric code would be displayed to the player. Example: "Please enter this code: H9". If the player enters what they were shown correctly, they're dropped into the event map, if not they're dropped into town (which incidentally, would be rather embarrassing if they're "not really there").

There's a lot of gold available from these events, and it takes lots of time and hard work to legitimately farm it. This method would thwart the goals of people who would no longer be able to automatically run these maps 24/7 while they're not actually present.

If entering this two digit code would not be a problem for you on gold farming maps of any tier during events only, please speak up. And likewise, if this is a problem for you, your voice definitely needs to be heard!

Thanks in advance for your time, everyone.

Because of the bots we need to suffer for it...

So you think it's fair if someone bots 300m+ gold during the reward phase of events in a gold farming map? Is it really "suffering" to take a couple of seconds to enter a two digit code before entering a *gold farming event map of any tier* (no other maps would be included)? I think the benefits outweigh the cons. Thank you for your feedback. Look forward to hearing from more people.

Would you rather enter a few numbers or someone bot 300mil and raise price on everything making your hard work and time spent completely worthless

So true. And two random characters, to be exact. Not even a few. :)

Great idea, the more counter measures for these gold farming maps the better.

Any addition to make it more difficult for bots, it might be a slight inconvenience to players but it is worth the sacrifice and in turn will become second nature once introduced for a few weeks.

Good idea, it's very similar to reCAPTCHA. Likewise, the model will be "easy on humans, hard on bots." Hundreds of millions use a similar model (reCAPTCHA) daily, so this feature is not much of an inconvenience in comparison to the gold pickup system that was put in place.

That sounds like an amazing Idea Drae!!! I would have no problem entering the code each re-make. Botting must be stopped.

A reasonable tweak to this idea would be that it displays every so-often (e.g. every 2 or 3 games you see the the code)

Good idea. If this is the case they could also make gold automatically picked up in these maps specifically

Thank you very much for the feedback! Let's hear from others as well.

Great idea. Bots need to go bye bye
I say take it a step further and select all the boxes with cars in them to continue :D just kidding. I support this idea 100%

One worry might be the impact on the quality of gameplay. Like bruh, which skrub likes doing validation before every run? So another idea you might want to add to minimize effect on gameplay is to only bring up the passcode in the first place if the player makes repetitive/bot-like movements. ReCaptcha does something similar in some sites, where if you seem human enough it doesn't even make you do the tiresome validation in the first place.

Thanks. I disagree that entering a two digit code that is shown to you before entering the event gold farming map is a burden. You're constantly clicking things in this game. Clicking two keys and one more to send it is no big deal. Before joining locked games, omg, you have to enter a password. Not a big deal. But now you have to pick up gold which is extremely wasteful of time and definitely interrupts the quality of game play, for every single pve run out there - and this didn't stop botters during the last gold event, it's ineffective. The two digit code idea is limited only to the tiered event gold farming maps, not the entire game.
