View Full Version : Move tiered gold farming into the competition phase of events

This is a suggestion to move the tiered gold farming from the reward phase into the competition phase of events that offer a gold farming component. This would shorten the time required to invest into events by 2 days, reducing them from 5 days to 3 days total. This would be easier on the community, a kill "3 birds with 1 stone" approach: Earn event points, a chance for rare loot, and gold all at the same time.

How would this work?

The gold farming maps we are used to running during the reward phase could be removed entirely. Once a tier was achieved, a player would start looting gold associated with their current tier.

No Tier: There would be no gold until the minimum tier threshold was reached.

Bronze Tier: Once the Bronze tier was reached, gold associated with that tier would start to drop during event map runs.

Silver Tier: Once the Silver tier was reached, the increased gold associated with that tier would start to drop during event map runs.

Gold Tier: Once the Gold tier was reached, the increased gold associated with that tier would start to drop during event map runs.

Platinum Tier: This is a new one. Some players reach Gold tier 3 or more times, and as in the case of the last event, Pinkbugga reached gold tier 11 times with an impressive 388k event points! The idea here is that players who reach, say, 100k event points are awarded the Platinum tier, which could possibly include a slightly more generous gold farming buff as well as slightly better prices/discounts from the prize vendor and when rolling enchantments.

Other thoughts: The amount of gold awarded for each tier would need to be nerfed to compensate for the extra possible day of gold farming and the fact that more people would spend more time farming gold since it would be a component of the competition phase. The basis of this idea is really just to optimize the event. Shaving two whole days off will be refreshing and allow a better balance between gaming and life for everyone. It will also be even more fun to be able to farm gold while you accrue points and farm for rare event vanities :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

This is honestly the best idea ive heard for pl in a long time, works for busy people as well because with the current event layout i have to basically play for a week, but with this suggested style i could just use 4-5 log ons and get everything i wanted to get done, overwith. This way i dont have to wait 2 days after i reach the tier im comfortable with.

This would be a good people that can dedicate their entire weekend to the event. But a majority of players will be earning a fraction of what they did before.

Discounts really can't get cheaper than the 1plat they are at gold for your "platinum" tier.

Adding anything of the sort I feel would generate a feeling of exclusion among a majority of the free to play players.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.Extend event durations instead of all of this

This is great idea. It will reduce the burn out of 5 days of straight farming. For those who have time during the events on Friday to Sunday. This is a matter of personal choice. To invest time into the game, loose sleep and endure hard core grinding.

It does sound challenging for Cinco to implement, the four different tiers and different gold loot drops etc.

It does pose the question to farmers during the event.

When does one continue with the group mode and farm for the vanity loot items, with a team and use of the golden bones and myxx elixir?
When does one go solo to maximise the gold loot?

However, reducing the event duration can have an adverse effect on those who are time limited. Weekends some have to work and real life commitments of going out and spending time with others.

Having the event scoring and the gold farming reward split up over a period of days, might be more beneficial just as it is now. It gives you the choice over the given time to choose when you can commit time to play and when you choose to balance real life.

+1 from me, I know this would require more work from Cinco, since he need to combine competition map + gold map.
Imagine if you're in a farming map and it has chests everywhere.
But it would be worth it tho, since it can cut down the days we need to farm.

You could always keep the amount of gold looted in line when running solo or in teams because as we know you cant se anyones drops anymore. That makes it individual loot. To keep individual loot the same as it would be to solo wouldnt be as hard as you think it is with the current system we have.

That idea again is another thing Cinco will have to introduce.

Currently gold loot amounts are split up with in the group, depending who is in the kill zone.

So it is more efficient farming for gold alone.

If you want your gold amount to equal a solo run, within a party, the coding on Cincos end will have to change.

Very true.

Cinco kindly changed the point scoring system for events to give points to the entire party instead of just the persons who make the kills.

Making the gold loot as much in group runs as in solo runs for event maps would be a good thing to do, because as you pointed out, people might choose solo runs over group runs if there's more gold in solos. Group runs were a ton of fun during the last event.

Good idea. But I would be more pleased if the gold farming got removed completly. The prices of all items are rising each time we get a gold farm event. New players can't run the gold farming zone as fast as l105 people. It is not helping anyone. Everyone gets more money but the inflation is soo high that it just makes no point of having more gold farming zones. It would be reasonable to make another gold farming event if there was any use of gold. Added to that gold is now dropable which makes the gold farming zones much more painful. This was just made to give this game another pay to win elexier which picks up the gold immediatly. Every single update is just made to make more money for the producers.
