I think everyone has one or two pieces of gear that he just loved, for example the jeweled bows from early level (20) i think. It would be great if players had the option to upgrade their old loot as well as farming for the new stuff. You could pay to upgrade damage at one of the NPCs in town, and then go to ella the enchantress and pay for enchantments like m/s, h/s, crits, etc.

There would have to be a limit on how many enchantments an item could hold, and a damage cap at the highest level (perhaps equivalent to new equipment). There would also need to be a cap at each level for m/s, h/s, crits, etc.

It would be nice if the old gear wasn't useless five levels later, and we all have those favorite pieces that we'd like to use again.

I think you are on the verge of something awesome here. This could help with customizing your character. Just imagine the variety of builds that could exist. Great idea! Devs, please take note.

Loot in general just needs to be upgraded

Nice, but, it would need to have limits, or else I could spend all my gold and upgrade a wand to one-shot EVERYTHING!

Technically, I would agree to this. However, after a few levels you can just spend the coins instead of upgrading to actual new gear!

it would be nice to upgrade the names of the weapons like, turning djinn spear of legend into a djinn spear of Thoth or something. that would be amazing, but upgrading it with plat because Thoth Isis horus and the others are rare ;).

Also, what's the point of new expansions if people are just upgrading their weapons from old expansions?

I don't necessarily agree with this for what mystical just said but I do believe that we should be able to do some minimal optimization that would, for instance add a +1 to an item which could raise damage 1-5 points and if it is like a thoth item raise m/s 1. This could be carried to however many additional pluses allowed but not so many that it would be better than the next set of new items but maybe as good or has an advantage that you like.

Here's an example from within the game of an already existing upgrade. Burglar's Heavy Crossbow exists for level 26 and for level 28. The only improvement is 2 more points of damage per hit. The other requirement is an increase of dex from 82 to 88. So, 2 levels and 6 primary stat points gets you +2 (which is also 2more DPS because e speed is .9).

So, can we buy this sort of thing? I really like my Auto-crossbow of Finesse and it looks like I will have to change to a heavy crossbow soon.

Val wants about 100 gp more for a level 31 item than for a level 29 item, but players might be willing to pay five times that to upgrade a favorite weapon by two levels.

The point of allowing users to upgrade is not to eliminate new loot but to allow for real customization. People will always want the new 'rare' gear, and so the new loot will still be desirable. But this way old loot will still be good for more than trade bait and looking cool in town.

For me it's all about not having to liquidate an item I like (and a purple one at that!), but it makes little sense to keep it unless I can add some pluses. 99% of new loot is liquidated anyway. We only keep the rares.
