Auction in the menu is the END of AL

Of course the update that placed auction shortcut in the menu made the gameplay easier, less time consuming and more enjoyable for everyone (even myself) but in long term it will destroy AL completely.
Why? Cause the auction house was the only reason that ppls would stay in towns!

Right now a significant amount of players (esp Old/Pro ones) are staying in their houses/guild halls checking auc.
They don’t see a need to visit towns ( considering they also don’t want to get annoyed by random noob players in towns or beggers…)

This gradually will happen to most of players and in long time towns getting less and less crowded

Players wont be able to sell stuff in towns so the auc will be the only selling option , which results in a lot of market manipulations and gold sink by auc bill
With Empty towns u cant even see other top/rich players so there will be no goals at all.
There wont be any reason to buy expensive vanities or items since theres no one in towns to show off your items! No goals and players will have no motivation to play anymore

The social community that was a positive aspect of AL is disappearing , making AL sth like a single player game.

I really feel the difference of before and after the auc update. Auc in menu is the worst decision made imo. What do u think guys?

I really love this auction shortcut .. but actually you are right it made towns less active by a lot, and its sad yeah but anyway i doubt sts will go back and delete it even if would be better for the social community

People sitting in towns did nothing for gameplay. The people that do this are a notch above beggers and really do little to enhance gameplay for others.

Its sad that half the "Pros" sit in town waiting for profit to fall ib their laps. I have little respect for them.

Sad to see alot of "pro" players so desperate for gold.

It's not the Auction, the game had lots of players standing around in cities who weren't using it. People used to socialise as well as playing but now a lot of them are on that Line nowadays.
It's got to the stage where people don't come online in-game until someone sends a message to them via Line, informing them when something interesting is happening.
I don't use it but I know a lot of guilds do have a Line thingy where they all disappear to.
It's ok for those who suffer from fomo too.

That's true and people are getting in touch with other players out of the game on social networks for trading. Whether it be Discord,. Facebook or Line. I don't know why..maybe it's because people don't want to pay auction fees.
I use the Auction 99 per cent of the time because I don't like trading, but when you put something in the auction for 10m and it doesn't sell, that's quite a bit to lose.
Having said that, I do prefer to buy and sell in the auction.

I agree 100% . Also they should have done it earlier , years ago. It's very convenient because I don't have to get spammed with messages "I sell this... I sell that" in towns all the time. I'm so tired of merchants sending personal messages every second in all towns.

I think auc in menu is good idea because it's the forums with fake offers/accs that made all prices go through the roof. Also I never liked shouting in towns with spam aka "merching" as a way to make gold. And I don't care that it will be hard to sell on street as it was hard before as well because I had to bump into tons of "merchers" who won't buy anything unless it's 50% off cs price.

one way to make town more active maybe, would be to add some more way to use all token we can get from all daily quest, add nice stuff to all token vendor!

Perhaps a decent compromise to this situation is to allow access to auction ONLY when you are in a town. So it’s not like the past where you have to be right in front of the auction to use it... you can use the auction from any spot in a town. I think this would promote more activity within towns again as well as provide some form of convenience to us players.

I used to hang out in the taverns because generally they were quiet. I would duck out, do auction, then duck back into the tavern. Now, I just hang around my house or someone else's house, if I'm in super-hide mode.

Well i dont know about you, but if i wanna sell/buy something outside of cs i would go to expedtion camp/chancel/festerfang town its ussually packed with ppl if there isnt an event going on. I like the auction shortcut very much, alot of times i find myself wondering abt some item but i really dont wanna go to a town just to see that..and socliazing is done with friends/guildmates u dont need to make a friend of a competle stranger. Also for me when it comes to goals its not abt seeing somebody and being like omg i wanna be them, i just aim to be as good as i can

I always said this game mirrored real life, except for a number of things like running around shooting fireballs at people or freezing them, smashing them with a giant hammer or bludgeoning them with a massive axe, wielding a bow and arrow, poking them with daggers and running around naked. So it comes as no surprise to me that we have online shopping. Yes, we can now allow our characters to sit in their houses with spouses, local tavern (looking for a spouse) or even travel whilst purchasing stuff. 🛒🏪
No need to get changed into your poorest attire to deter beggars or dress up in your finery to impress. 😉

Do you really communicate with friends in town instead of guildhall or house? All I see in towns is "SELLING MERCH BUYING MERCH PM OFFER NO OFFER NO SELL".

IMO this merch plague must be removed instead of auc button. 1% fee instead of 5 would be a good start.

The best way to make auction in towns much more attractive is to remove the tax requirement of any item when you go to the town to list your item.
This should only be applicable when ur in towns. anywhere else, the tax system still holds.

It's a gold sink if you sell something 20m+. 99.99% of such items are sold on forum only so there is no point in tax if people are dodging it

This is a much needed convenience, especially during events and you are in "Frozen Hope", for instance......

People will always find their way to the "actual" auction house, no need to "force" them to go there..... LOL......

I heard people also play on pve/pvp maps where their allies can also see their 100m vanity instead of standing in towns and shouting "BUYING MERCH" 25/8.

This button is a step in right direction - kicking useless merchers from the game. They don't take a part in farming or pvp battles, they don't buy plat. Only spaming useless letters in expe camp/pier and mess up economy

People do not buy 100m vanities just to sit in their house or GH, they "will" display it, that's why they purchased it..... Duh.........

New players will be discouraged by "empty maps", not towns, and seeing as that this move will not desert towns, I'd conclude that your logic is a bit "off"............

Those who oppose keep trying to "identify" a "wrong" when it comes to this situation but, it's always confined to "empty towns"......

People only gang auction in Paradise Pier and Traveler's outpost and those are good hunting grounds for spam scammers..... If anything, it'd be best to dilute that aspect (packed noob towns) and make it harder for the scammers to hunt.......

Bottom line, this feature is a "convenience" because there are times when going to town just to access auction gets in the way of certain progresses and grooves that I get into.......

Now that I’m playing with my hardcore toon I need frequently to visit different towns to collect/return quests.
I see towns are still full of players. Traveler, Kraag, expedition especially. And not only sellers/buyers.
Maybe is just my impression, but nothing changed from when auctions were only in towns.

I think your whole initial “theory” is just a big slippery slope. Don’t cause panic by making assumptions. Just ride out the situation and see where stuff goes. I’m sure that if something were to happen there could be some changes that could be made to fix them.
