Crashing at startup

I play on an ipad. Ever since the new update, SL crashes when I try to log in the first time. I'm able to log in the second time. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling, and that didn't work. A couple of my guild members also play on idevices and they are crashing as well.

Confirm it, and have crashes in general too.
Menu seems more responsive. The fontsize of a chatline which we write is small. Pls reset to original size

yeah i'm getting the same thing, but not just on startup. i very very occasionally get disconnected and have to restart, but it's happened about 15 now since the update, and it usually takes me 2-3 times of trying to log in before the app runs successfully.

I am not sure, but my iPhone 4s seems to be running phone no crashing problems.

It must be the patch. If it was our ios the app store wouldn't allow to dl without having the proper ios installed to your device. It would say this game requires such am such version of so n so. But it doesn't. :(

Are you running OS 3 on your iPad? If so, if you update to the latest your device will support (I believe iPad1's can run OS 5) that should fix it. We're looking at why OS version 3 is crashing, but as a workaround if you update to the latest, you should be able to play.

I can confirm that after begrudgingly updating my iPad for the first time ever it no longer crashes on start up.

I have the iPad2, and I haven't updated yet because i inevitably fudge up technology by looking at it the wrong way. One of my friends also had a problem when she updated (not with any STS game, just in general). I was hoping to just put off updating my iOS for a while, but may reconsider if it turns out that this problem will continue to happen unless I update. I also hate iTunes with the fiery passion of a thousand suns, and as far as i can tell, that's the only way to update iOS (unless this has changed and i'm unaware of it).

I updated to OS 5 and it took 2 1/2 hours...and I don't even have a lot of music/pics/apps (but at the same time I've had my ipad for a year and have never updated it :/ ) However, it did work and I'm no longer crashing :) So, thanks for the info! And I'm sorry newt...I had to update it through itunes :-(

hmmmm....... so i played after work today, and it didn't crash when i opened SL....... but just now i tried again, and kaboom....

i also have the iPod 3g, and it crashes too. i definitely won't be updating my ipod tho as i already dropped it in the toilet once and god only knows when it is gonna decide to die. idk if mine can handle an upgrade. good luck

Side note: updating the iPad 1 to the latest iOS gives it the gesture functionality found in the iPad 2. I love being able to bring up the taskbar with a 4 finger swipe. I've been pretty happy with iOS5 overall.

I'm happy with the iOS 5. Never had a problem with it. Now if you guys could only fix the HeyZap pop from still showing up. I was under the impression one of the latest patches was supposed to remove it.

ahhhhhhhhh stop talking about iOS 5 bc I don't wanna spend hours (from what I hear) upgrading until I cap my com.

on topic, i think hey zap was already removed until they can figure out how the fix it so it just pops up once like it is supposed to. I haven't gotten a hey zap "check in" annoyance as I switch apps since I got home from work last night, and I just checked again before typing this out.

I have an iPod 3G also, it crashed on startup once and then I can run it. I stated this above as well. if u are still having problems, email suppose instead of cursing on a bug forum, devs don't appreciate being yelled at.
