View Full Version : Have heal spells (Restore) always been int based?

I just noticed this while playing around with an int bear, int provides more towards Restore than str does?
This was my Restore with 150 Base Str, 1 Int:

Restore with 7 Str, 144 Base Int:

I thought class skills were meant to be stat-driven by their primary attribute? Unless Restore is an exception? Any input on the bird's self-regen skill?
Thanks.

This happened a ~long~ time ago during the combat re balance. Primary stats raise most skills, but Intelligence raises all healing spells. As the non-mage healing spells are quite underpowered, few if any put points into Int to raise them unless they are using Int based weapons.

I see. I've always thought that Restore was just that weak of a skill, never knew raising int would actually improve it drastically. Thanks Fluff.
A bit odd though.

Back to the research...
It seems you have fallen upon something. My bird is pure dex and I have restore maxed. With all my points going into dex, Restore at lvl 6 provides 71-100 heal. When I respecced to give 150 DEX (enuff to maintain my equips) and the rest into INT, Restore went up to 86-128.
So it does seem this is effected directly by INT. I will note that my other skills dropped drastically (which is to be expected.)

:p
Yeah, seems its always been this way (never been aware, LOL).
I don't see the point of it being int for both classes though. Invest 100 points in int just for sub-par stats and Restore?
I would suggest putting the effect on the secondary stat of birds and bears. Eg, the str stat boosts the Restore for birds, while its dex for bears.
