Someone will probably tell me that this idea has been suggested, but I already searched and didn't find it.

As of now, the cap on a skill is 5, and that means that soon enough, everyone who reaches max will be nearly maxed on skills. So they will have to invent new skills.

The alternative is to raise the skill cap.

BUT, don't just make them increase in equal increments; use a sliding scale. For instance, level 1 + 10, level 2 +9, etc... to level 10 +1, for 10, 19, 27, 34, 40, 45, 49, 52, 54, 55. But if that is too radical, how about the first 3 level are ten, the next 3 are 9, the next 3 are 8, etc. for 10, 20, 30, 39, 48, 57, 65, 73, 81, and 88 at 10th.

I think i know what you're saying...so if your a level 1, a skill can go up to ten. If your a level two, a skill can go up to nine. If thats true, that is completely pointless. Sorry, but you get ONE skill point after each level.

I have suggested this before here (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?3710-Unlimited-Skill-Cap)

It turns out not to be a good idea.

Skill Trees is the solution.

He's saying.. when u put 1 point its +100% effective.. 2nd point 90%.. 3rd point 80% 5th point 70%.. he was saying lvl 1 +10 llvl 2 +9 but i believe this is what he means

Well, it's not a gajillion levels of firestorm... I'm saying raise the cap, not remove it.

But since just doubling everything would result in preposterous numbers, I am saying, maybe use a sliding scale, so at first 1 point gets you a lot more effect but after 5 levels, increasing the skill would get you less. Focus, for instance, get +10% to crit for each level, up to 50%. Raising the cap to 10 could therefore result in +100% chance to crit. That's not good, so maybe a sliding scale?

However, I don't really agree with my first thought on that. It already takes more XP to get that point to spend.

I dunno... but raising the cap at least a few points would be cool.

Or... maybe some things that are not increased when you increase a skill could start being increased at the new levels. An Avian Scream has such a short range that it is practically useless even at 5 points, but if the range expanded for 6 through 10, the damage wouldn't have to increase.

It would at least give us something to spend points on, once they are all maxed out.

OK... I get it... nobody likes the idea of scalable skill values.

The problem is, once we all get to 60th level, we will all have maxed out all our skills.
How about if they just up the skill cap to 6, at first?
That would at least postpone the problem until we can all get to 72nd level...

Or just new skills and ignore this problem completely
