I have been playing PL for a couple of weekends. I am a level 14 enchantress :) I have purchased all the campaigns and tried them all. I am just one question.

When I get a drop, sometimes the letters are in green, yellow, purple, etc. What do they represent?

Hey welcome! The colors represent how rare and good the item is...So it goes like this...Grey, White, Orange, Green, Purple, and Pink. Pink is the Rarest and Grey is very common.
